This class is merges the archaeological with the ecological and will blow your mind. Yes, professor Knapp focused on plants but plants make the Channel Islands so special plus all life depends on plants. Hardest part about the class is that I can't focus as she looks like Carrie Anne Moss from the Matirix movies. Call me Neo!
VERY interesting class if Ecology is your thing. dry lectures honestly... the trip to Santa Cruz Island is awesome. She has great activities for grades (Botanical Gardens, Nat Hist Museum). Tests can be tough but the questions are recycled from previous years. Guest lecturers are interesting. At first, daunting but good end
This class talked about a lot of aspects of the Channel Islands such as prehistoric and modern human use of the islands, the geology of the channel islands, the environmental conditions and habitat of the different channel islands and the challenges to environmental restoration. She made her expectations for the class clear and grading was fair.
Professor Knapp is nice/passionate about what she does (Botany) but what a Bore-fest... Class should be renamed "Botany on the Channel Islands"... like 15/20 lectures were about plants, It was hard to stay awake. The field trip to Santa Cruz Island was amazing but she still continued teaching us about plants... "Botany is not for everyone" ZZZZZ...
worst class in the world
She is a botanist, and loves her plants. Get ready to have them working into every lecture that she can. Makes you memorize scientific names of plants, characteristics, the whole bit. Posts powerpoint but they don't help unless you went to class. Gives study guide but doesn't help unless you have notes from lecture to fill in information from.
