The test was open notes so it was a lot easier, but you had to watch his lectures and take notes on pretty much everything he says. The test is heavy on both memorization (on what he says) and application (he mentions it in his lectures too). It's a very fulfilling & interesting class, but it feels like a lot more effort than a 2 unit class.

This class was one of the hardest classes I have taken in the MCDB department. That being said, Montell is a phenomenal professor who is renowned in the field of neurobio--I learned SO much in this class, and it was all incredibly interesting. Just be ready to commit a large chunk of your study time to this class, but it is worth it.
