Lalo is an awful lecturer. He is a great guy, but seriously impossible to follow. Thank god for Mike because his half carried me through the course.
Professor Gonzalez is not a good lecturer. I severely struggled on the exams even though I spent a lot of time studying. He requires reader problems that are NEVER gone over in class. There is so much extra work to do outside of this class in order to do well. Two midterms and a cumulative final, weekly worksheets and quizzes plus forum posts :(
One of the absolute worse professors in all of existence. Lectures are not organized, does not clearly explain topics, provides misinformation, and doesn't even know how to solve problems he himself assigns. Does not take any feedback about teaching and just blames students for not dedicating 22 of 24 hours of the day everyday studying genetics
I actually enjoyed Lalo's lectures - there was a ton of of information, but he tried his best to make it interesting and engaging. He was very accessible and eager to help outside of class, and clearly is passionate about the subject and wants to see his students succeed.
His lectures are pretty unorganized so sometimes you need to rewatch past lectures to get all the material, and he can be unclear about what material will be covered on exams. However, he is helpful during office hours and will work through problems with you until you understand. Like Mike, he wants you to succeed and will work with you.
Not sure why everyone likes Lalo so much. His lectures are unorganized. He backtracks a lot and makes mistakes when explaining concepts. His exams are memorization-based, not concept-based. Also did not like that his lecture videos during online went over the amount of time allotted for the class period (1:30 videos despite 50 minute class)
