LOVE him! He's super clear and explains things very well in class. Copy down whatever he writes on the board and you have perfect notes- there's no need to get the textbook. His tests are also super fair, and way easier than the HW. Final replaces your lowest midterm if you do better. So glad I took him and would 100% recommend. BTW, he's a cutie.

Fair professor. He writes on the board instead of using powerpoints which is nice. However, most of the time I left lecture confused. He tells you what will be on the tests and lets you bring a notecard. I found the 1st midterm easy, but the 2nd midterm and final difficult. I honestly put no effort in the class and got a B. He's better than most.

Chillest math professor at UCSB. The exams are straightforward AND he tells you what types of Q's will be on exams the class before he gives it AND he allows you to use a double-sided 3x5 notecard. Lecture's decent, but I preferred learning from CLAS. Uses WeBWorK so you don't need to pay for HW (or a textbook) and he doesn't use iClickers. 10/10

I absolutely love Martinez he is the best! He cares about his students so much! He literally tells you what is going to be on the midterm and final no funny business! Homework is not difficult at all, this I my second time having him as a professor and I value him so much! He has a accent, but its not difficult to understand! Take math with him!!!

Great prof, took his class in a huge boomy classroom so it was hard to hear (his accent didnt even bother me) his tests are heavily based on lecture. He is clear and his goal is not to trick you. He explains everything and is available during office hours. Extremely nice too. Great guy!

Best math professor, he's funny and caring. I wish all the math professors are like him. You HAVE to go to lectures, all of his questions on the tests came from lectures(e.g. word problems)

Honestly the nicest guy ever. Probably top two professors I've had at UCSB (second to Price so that says a lot). Very helpful and his test are super easy if you listen to the review. Everyone says that his accent is super thick but I could understand him without a problem. Highly recommend anyone and everyone to take him.

Has a thick accent, but his handwriting is neat enough to understand what he is talking about. You need to buy the textbook or at least online access to it so you can do the homework, but I have found myself using it a lot because otherwise I would not know how to do the homework.

Thick accent makes it difficult to hear. New to teaching, so not the greatest explainer. He's pretty lenient with test grading and will give partial credit. Worked with me when dealing with personal / medical issues on extending a deadline. Uses weekly webwork, BOO. Don't need the textbook at all.

He has good intentions but his accent and new-ness to the field of teaching make it really hard to learn anything from him. He constantly stops class for 3 or more minutes (in a 50 minute class where every minute counts) because he can't remember how to solve something. He needs more experience teaching and how to simplify concepts for students.
