His lectures sometimes would fly over my head, but he's more than happy to clarify anything you didn't understand in-lecture and in office hours. The homework made me relatively comfortable with the material. As for exams, he didn't go TOO easy on us, but he made the tests fairly reasonable. He puts up helpful review questions to do beforehand.
The lectures weren't bad, but they also weren't very good. Heavy accent makes it hard to understand, and he speaks pretty fast. Going to lecture is important to understand the material, even though the lectures were boring. Homework can be difficult without much programming experience.
This class is a lot of work with or without Guo. He is completely willing to answer questions and break down concepts until you understand them. His lectures go at a good pace, if not too slow. The key to this class is to ask questions until you understand. Also, the homework/tests are very straightforward.
The issue with Guo is his accent and lectures. The textbook for this class was useless. He posts the notes online as well, but they're very difficult to interpret. He accommodates the Chinese students the most in office hours so those are also basically useless. You will need to teach yourself everything and that will be difficult. Don't take him.
Very organized lectures and notes. Make sure you don't skip class. Tests are fair if you do your homework and practice problems. Intro to pure math isn't the easiest course, but I think Dr. Guo did a good job in teaching it.
Professor Guo gives very organized notes during lectures. Although he has a very heavy accents, but if you get used to it then you will be fine. Very helpful during office hours. It's a super structured multi calc class. He also gives study guides and practice problems before midterms and finals, and full solutions are also provided.
Really nice prof, you will be fine as long as you do all your work.
I urge you to look different professor. Tests are everything, final is worth 4045% and midterm(s) worth 40%. They are graded HARSHLY and although average and SD comes out to be 70% and 12%, he never curves the class and does not care how many fails his class. Lectures are worthless because of the accent and poor planning of materials. DONT RISK
He is a good lecturer, but has a really heavy accent that takes time to get used to. The tests are very fair and as long as you understand the material he went over you will get an A. He posts review pages before each midterm and the final that are pretty close to the actual test.
Very heavy accent but go iClicker. Go to section for quizzes. Midterm was easy but the final got everyone, which he curved generously and bumped everyone up. HW was a bit confusing and tedious but dw the tests are much easier. Hard understand in class but will not hesitate to help in office hours. Review sheet has everything without any surprises.
Guo is very helpful and warm-hearted. Although the contents of the math 6b are a little bit difficult, the lectures are well organized and the tests are fair. And the notes he posted before exams are useful. He has a heavy chinese accent, but I think it's not a problem for the Chinese students.
He's a great professor. His goes a little fast during lecture, but you often get out early. He also is fairly reasonable when it comes to tests. He doesn't give you anything he didn't go over in lecture. He also gives a TON of partial credit. He's also a reasonable grader. He curved this class. He also gave some extra credit for attending lecture.
