Very engaging class and topic, but workload is intensive. There are various assignments due every week for simple readings, that she overcomplicates. Very sweet professor, but the workload and busy work made the class much more unenjoyable.
she is my favorite prof ever!! she made the class super enjoyable and i learned sooo much. it is a looottt of work at first, but i feel like you get used to it throughout the weeks. she will def help you if you're struggling and she's very accessible! she truly recognizes the effort her students put in so you definitely have to work for your grade!
My favorite professor at UCSB! She is really nice and caring, and it's just amazing to see her positivity and passion every time we have lectures. She inspired me a lot, and I aspire to be more like her in my future life.
Professor Kiley was the best when it came to communicating with students about assignments. She's very understanding and I would definitely take her again for future courses.
The class definitely had a lot packed in! Lots of reading and smaller requirements that add up, including reading journals. However, Professor Guyton-Acosta is absolutely amazing! Class is often student-driven with 1-2 presentations by student groups each class. Her insights and connections are amazing. Overall, it was challenging yet great course!
Kiley is one of the most wonderful professors at UCSB. I have had such an amazing time in her course and really feel that my Spanish has improved a ton. She is fair with her grading, helps you if you need it, and fosters a class environment that makes you feel at ease. She is the sweetest person ever, literally want to be her when I grow up!
Professor Guyton Acosta changed my life, seriously, no cap, deadass. Anyways, Professor Acosta is a wonderful professor, her lectures are very interesting and open a discussion for a broad range of issues in the latinx community. She does a good job at encouraging people to participate and creating a comfortable and non-judgemental environment.
You will not regret it at all. Professor Kiley is super caring and thoughtful. She is very understanding and class is super welcoming no matter your knowledge on Spanish.
You won't regret taking her. She is so kind, engaging and amazing and I respect her as a professor and as a person because she is so understanding. She is willing to go above and beyond to help her students succeed- doing review sessions and making organizational documents.
Kiley was the most caring professor I have ever had. She helped me during a rough patch in my life and was very understanding when I could not make it to class. She also wrote me a letter of recommendation, which was awesome! Such a great teacher and modified her teaching methods to help each student understand the material.

I LOVE her! She's such an amazing person- she often brought up feminist issues in our Spanish class. Very friendly, very understanding, very fun to learn from. I really hope I can take more classes from her.
