Incredible class. Best professor at UCSB. Loved ❤️.
Unfortunately I had this professor over an online course but despite this his lectures were very good and interesting. He has a clear passion for the subject and explains everything in an entertaining way; he is also very funny.
This was my favorite class at UCSB and my favorite professor. Made me switch my major to Political Science. I wish he taught more classes!
Unfortunately due to the online pre recorded lectures there was limited interaction with the professor. But the class was overall interesting. I Was very close to an A however grades are not rounded. Grade depends on participation in sections and attendance along with 2 essays a midterm and final. Your TA in the course will matter.
I took this class as a hybrid class. The TA was extremely knowledgeable and provided valuable feedback on the midterm essays; his section was also engaging! The textbook is very loaded, and I would recommend not falling behind. The essay grading by my TA was mildly tough, but I think nothing extreme of college standards.
Prof Narang is the best!! I took 106NS (Nuclear Security) with him this quarter after taking him for PS7 my first year. He's kind, funny, and caring as a professor. Class was half Zoom/half in person with nuclear experts across the country as speakers. Wish I could take him again but he's stepping up to an admin position and no longer a prof
Class is good I took half online. Lectures were pretty straightforward and not too boring for a video. Sections were very straightforward and helpful. All of your grade is attendance/participation and the 2 essays.
I loved this class. Professor Narang's lectures are fantastic. He is a clear and dynamic lecturer. I understand the hybrid structure of the class, but I wish we had more face time with him. The assignments and grading are fair, but your TA matters. I would take this class again.
I had the hybrid version of this class and it was fairly simple. My TA was a G! The midterms and final papers were PAINFUL but over swiftly. You get a week to do it. Lectures were informative and if you follow them REALLY CLOSELY, you could get away with skimming the textbook.
I'd highly recommend taking any class w/ Narang, he's a great lecturer and is super sweet & funny too! Class required lots of reading but I found that lecture basically summed reading up. Also, probably the easiest political science class imo and very interesting too!
One of my favorite professors ever. Definitely take his class if you can. Super nice guy and really informative and entertaining lectures. Lecture attendance not mandatory but he covers the same info as the textbook so I never read and went to lecture instead. Easy to get a good grade as long as you pay attention. Love him
Professor Narang is a great guy, and great lecturer too. Lots of assigned readings but I was rarely on top of those tbh and no problems ever really came up from that. Section was kinda lame but easy points.
