Dr. Lamon is a wonderful instructor and a caring member of the faculty. She encourages discussion and group work. She's always willing to give advice and offers help during office hours. She remembers everyone's name and even writing styles. She has all the positive feedback to give you even though you may not do that well. She's the best

Phenomenal! Knows all her students by name, gives diligent feedback on assignments, is affirming and positive in response to students, cares deeply about making the class fair. Brought us candy multiple times over the quarter! The class was reading-intensive but many were super interesting. An A is very achievable if you read and pay attention

Shelley is one of the sweetest professors I've had. Yes, she's young - but tries to inspire a meaningful discussion among the class and is more than tolerant. Her feedback on anything we turned in was always motivational and positive. Read definitions and main concepts in the text and the rest is pretty much common sense. Exams super comprehensive.

She is a great professor. She got the job done. Lecture slides sometimes extensive but overall I would recommend her to a friend. If you show up and pay attention, will most likely do well. One paper in addition to a midterm and final.

Shelly is a pretty good lecturer considering that it is probably one of the first classes she has taught (The TA's were pretty good as well). She does iClicker questions that add up in the end so make sure your in class (or your iClicker if lecture isnt your thing). Overall pretty good class and gorgeous professor!!

Terrible professor. All she does is read off of packets of paper during lecture. Her powerpoints are also unnecessarily long and wordy. Grading scale was fair. Ethnographic paper was not that bad. A lot of the questions on the exams refer to the readings. Her study guides are not that great. Go to lecture---iClicker counts.

This is a very basic cultural anthro class made to give you some ideas and terms to apply to more specific anthro class in the future, so it's not really difficult. Prof does her best to explain what is probably common sense to her and might not mean much to her students. Not much to teach because very easy to learn. Also she's drop dead gorgeous.

Overall, a pretty bad teacher. She just stood up at the front and read an essay to the class during lecture. The powerpoints were also hard to follow. For the ethnographic paper, we had t come up with the entire topic and basis on our own and was difficult. The TA's are much better at relaying the information. Would not take a class with her again.

Not a particularly good professor, just a doctoral candidate at the school. Seems like UCSB ran out of professors and assigned her to teach the lecture. She reads all of her lectures directly from her notes. A hamster could do her job. Only redeeming quality is that she's hot. Pretty much the only reason I come to class.
