Took his Spanish2 class back in 2013 so he may have improved since then but his teaching style was difficult to follow. Hes a good guy but his teaching skills needed to be refined more. I dont have the best pronunciation and I remember him telling me after my final that, it was painful to hear me speak in Spanish. Blunt but not professional.

A truly enthusiastic, caring, and funny teacher. His classes are fun and he makes you feel comfortable! Spanish classes at UCSB are always difficult, but if you put in the work & participate Watson will do everything within his power to make sure you do well. His only downside is a little disorganization but he is by far my favorite Span teacher.

Watson is a nice guy, but his instructions of assignments and due dates were never clear and in general student/teacher communication was a problem. Played way too many games during class for my liking. I never felt prepared for tests and he lagged a lot on grading. However, he is very flexible and cares about his students.

Profesor Watson is a funny and engaging teacher who means his best for his students. He incorporates games and activities into almost every class so you are never sitting there listening to a lecture. Sometimes due dates and assignment expectations were unclear, but his flexibility never let be detrimental to one's grade.

He's a funny guy and you'll have a great time in his class if you participate in the activities. He's a geeky guy, which is great and very entertaining! He encourages a lot of class participation and focuses on the speaking aspect more than grammar, which is great for non-native speakers. He's definitely there for help if you ask for it.

I don't quite see where the last two reviews are coming fun, but will agree that perhaps not much time was spent on grammar. (Something, however, that Watson cleared up as soon as it was brought to his attention). His primarily focus, in my opinion, was in getting us to talk in class, which should be the case in a spanish class.

Nice guy but not a great teacher. Never answers questions clearly, makes up boring activities in class and lets the book teach for him. The class feels like I never left high school. Not a lot of homework though...

Watson is funny keeps the classes attention but his class is basically devoid of any actual teaching. He comes to class improvising the day's lesson plan. Seems to depressed to care about student's problems. The absolute worse thing though is that he never teaches grammar at all and then grades it fiercely. That and do personal feedback ever ever.
