I did not really enjoy Tesarro's CS138 class that much, and was left wondering if I should take another course with him. CS177 with Tessaro proved to be one of my favorite classes at UCSB, and I am so glad that I decided to take it. Lectures are informative and not that dull compared to other CS courses, and Tessaro really cares about his students
Awesome professor if you love computer security. He is the best professor for CS177.
Favorite CS professor I've had so far. Explains things really well, very responsive on Piazza, very responsive to student feedback, and floppy arm movements are great. Homework is a huge portion of the grade and can be difficult, but tests are very fair. You should probably (but don't have to) go to class.
Amazing professor. Either show up to his lectures or read everything from the book he assigns. Understands that students have other classes. Partial credit is generous but assignments are graded tough. Overall, would take him again. One of the best CS professors at UCSB.
Excellent Professor, one of the best I've ever had. Homework is worth a lot of your grade, don't procrastinate. Instantly responds to questions in a very concise manner, both in class and on piazza. I would absolutely take again.
really good professor
Really good professor. Grades generously and clearly sets out how to achieve the grade you want. Whenever someone has a question on piazza, almost instantly responds. This class is theory based so it isn't meant to be easy, but he makes it bearable. He is also a genius. My only complaint is that too much class time was spent on irrelevant proofs.
