This professor is obviously very intelligent & knowledgeable, but who cares. He needs soft skills (how to lead Zoom discussions). He has technical issues frequently, dogs bark in the background! He's so much of an intellectual he cant actually teach th subject. Dont keep your camera on, he'll call you out and then make you feel like an idiot.
I took Professor Jacques' Zoom course this Spring. His class is participation and discussion heavy, and graded on a few essays. Expect heavy reading and come prepared to discuss. Jacques is not afraid to call people out, especially if your camera is on. I enjoyed his insights on political issues, and his class felt like a safe space to discuss.
Took his zoom class and he was completely unprepared and spent the entire class asking questions. If your answer isnt exactly what hes thinking for hell make you feel stupid.
I think that there had been a misunderstanding about what the class was. Students expected a Black Studies class and he expected a group of Writing Majors. In the end, I think that we all came to understand each other. I do believe that he improved, and that by the final, he changed his expectations for the class. I hope he stays another year.
He has an opinion and that is the only right answer. He is not clear about assignments. He will give you a poor grade on a paper and leave no comments. You have to ask for explanation and be ready to be put on the spot in discussions.
He just lectures on the most useless topics that don't even relate to the paper we are assigned. It's obvious he is very intellectual, but he is one of those professors who knows his stuff so well that he cannot teach a class properly. He turns a writing class into some philosophical literature course with so much rambling.
