Professor Koç is an extremely smart guy. Lectures are funny and understandable, you can tell he is interested in the subject (obviously). The class is very math heavy but it's pretty fun honestly and the tests are very fair and not hard.

Words cannot describe how amazing Dr. Koc is. He's quite quirky in a good way. He's also very hilarious in his anecdotes relating to cryptography. Personally for me I was going through some hard times when I took his course and he cheered me up quite a bit sometimes! He's a very caring professor.

I love Professor Koc! He really cares about his students, and his lectures are genuinely funny. If you listen well, he will tell you everything you need to know for the homework. His homework is not unreasonably difficult given the lecture content and help is readily available. Would take again.

Excellent teacher, very easy class

Dr. Koç's lectures are thorough, and he addresses student questions clearly when they arise. He posts his slides so we can focus more on listening than on note-taking. He genuinely cares that we grok the material during lectures, rather than dismissing it for at-home reading. I'd love to have him as a professor again; he is among the best at UCSB.

Simply put the professor puts little to no work into preparing for his class. Homework causes problems since the professor is unable to answer students questions because he himself does not seem to have looked over the assignments.
