Even though Dr. Pye's lecture style can be a bit hard to follow at times, I learned more about myself than I ever thought possible in a college course. She doesn't post lecture recordings or powerpoints so take notes! Your whole grade is determined by a self reflective journal and a final presentation on how you have been working on your narrative.
Very nice, helpful. Adapted to online classes well. Made me see a different outlook on life. Changes your worldview. A little harsh with verbal feedback, but it made us want to do well so our group didnt receive the harsher feedback. Very, very, & I repeat very passionate about the subject taught. Good class to take, I have no important criticism.
One of my favorite classes at UCSB so far. Attendance was mandatory which sucked with an 8 am lecture, but the concepts she talked about were very eye opening and self reflective. This class was very interesting and the professor is super passionate about what she teaches.
I took this class over summer so Professor Pye was pretty laid-back and let us leave early almost every day. There were 4 homework assignments (reading quizzes) and a vignette (group project). She lectured for the first 2 weeks and then the rest of the time we worked on our group project. Just put in effort and you'll do fine. She's a nice lady.
Ecopsych was a very self-reflective class. I did not read of the textbooks and still got an A. There were no quizzes/midterms, or homework. The final was a 5 minute presentation. There's a lot of peer discussion. Attendance is mandatory. I could have gotten an A if I didn't miss one class. More than 2 absence is an automatic no pass.
Ecopsych is very interesting. I recommend this class hands down. Lectures don't make any sense but are insightful to yourself. I learned so much about myself and how I relate to nature. If you want an easy class that is based in nature take it!
Easily one of the best professors I've had yet. She is extremely brilliant and takes a vested interest in every student. Grades heavily on attendance and on participation so make sure you attend. The readings aren't too challenging and are supplemental to lecture.
I got an A in her class and found it extremely easy. It is all based on the final project or paper so just make sure you do a great job and you'll do well. I only read half of one of the books and still did well. Make sure you use the correct format on the paper and follow the guidelines, which are lofty until the last week.
Lori makes it impossible to get an A but will give nearly the entire class above a c. she gives you no way to actually show your work to earn a decent grade by having nightly journal assignments that she barely checks and one turn in assignment- a project with a 3 page paper or a 10 page paper-which makes or breaks your grade.
