STONE D
Prof Stone is very caring and encourages students to come to office hours, especially for resume/career advice. I was not at all interested in a career in planning/environmental assessment before this class, and now I am! Definitely a tough grader but if you clearly follow his structure you'll be fine.
Actually the worst class I have ever taken. On the first day, we went on a tangent about how "respectful" he is, and made SURE we knew he "wasn't condescending" (spoiler: super condescending). he was the most nit-picky grader I have ever had. Said he would round up our grade 5% if we did better on the midterm and the final and he didn't.
Unfortunately, harsh grader who does not provide adequate feedback. Essentially graded only on two assignments (plus a third, worth very little), the instructions were poorly written, and expectations were not clear. Grading of the midterm and final was arbitrary, with a random number of points being taken off for "mistakes." Very boring lectures.
David is extremely caring towards his students and a great Env impact analysis resource. This class is great for anyone interested in planning. The midterm, final, and one short paper are the only things on the canvas,& he is not an easy grader. Assignments are tedious if you are not interested in planning. showed me that planning isn't for me
This class has a lot of work since you're writing your EIR but if you get your sections done early, he will give you a lot of feedback. Working hard now in this class is definitely worth it as this document can be used in interviews to show your work. I loved this class a lot.
Absolutely loved him, amazing to reach outside of class for career and resume help. He made going to class worth it. There's only three assignments but they're not very difficult if you look over the slides, they're take home. Amazing person and such a great class, made me find out what I wanted to do.
