STONE D
David is extremely caring towards his students and a great Env impact analysis resource. This class is great for anyone interested in planning. The midterm, final, and one short paper are the only things on the canvas,& he is not an easy grader. Assignments are tedious if you are not interested in planning. showed me that planning isn't for me
This class has a lot of work since you're writing your EIR but if you get your sections done early, he will give you a lot of feedback. Working hard now in this class is definitely worth it as this document can be used in interviews to show your work. I loved this class a lot.
Absolutely loved him, amazing to reach outside of class for career and resume help. He made going to class worth it. There's only three assignments but they're not very difficult if you look over the slides, they're take home. Amazing person and such a great class, made me find out what I wanted to do.
David Stone is one of the most caring professors at UCSB. He has such a kind heart and is so easy to talk to. he is always open to listening and offering advice, i 100% recommend taking his class and getting to know him. 165B was work heavy, but if this is your passion I have no doubt that the final result from this class will be fulfilling
Stone is my favorite prof at UCSB. He is so caring and goes out of his way to offer help. Lots of work out of class but you come out with a 40+ page product at the end that is amazing for a writing sample for employers/grad school. Genuinely wants everyone to succeed. Highly recommend if you have any interest in env. consulting or planning.
Professor Stone is the best professor I have had at UCSB due to his passion for the subject, care for his students, and enthusiasm! This class is homework intensive but very informative and provides a great writing sample by the end. I hope people have a chance to take his classes before he retires (maybe next year)!
Prof. Stone is one of the best professors at UCSB. If you have any interest in env consulting or planning you should take his class. Take home midterm and final plus one 2-page critique. Not an easy A but it was definitely a very rewarding class and I feel like I learned a lot. Stone goes out of his way to make sure students succeed.
If you are looking for an easy A, this class is definitely not it. He only has three assignments for the year. this includes a midterm, one assignment, and a final. He does not explain the format he wants for these assignments. His exams are actually very difficult ESPECIALLY if you are not interested in env planning. Would not recommend!
Funniest and most interesting professor I've had. Anyone ES major that isn't too big on science but doesn't know what they wanna do, TAKE THIS CLASS. By the end, you will know if environmental planning is what you want to do. It's gonna be hard and tedious work, especially if you take 165B, but extremely valuable to use as future writing samples
TAKE HIS CLASSES! By far the best professor I've had here at UCSB. 165A/165B are super specific to environmental impact analysis/EIR writing, so if that's something you're interested in, I HIGHLY recommend taking them. He truly does everything he can to set you up for success not only in his class but in your life/career. Awesome prof & awesome guy
Professor Stone is an amazing teacher. He cares about all his students greatly. He truly wants you to succeed. He wants you to learn rather than "test" you. His class consists of lectures that are also available in outlines on gauchospace, 1 paper, a take home midterm and take home final. He is funny and easy to talk to. He respects his students.
David is an enthusiastic & caring professor! He really wants his students to succeed in the professional world. Class is an easy A & attendance is not mandatory - slides are posted online. There is a midterm, final, & short assignment. The only thing is the class is very vocational so it's only interesting if you're interested in impact analysis
