Keep up with the homework written and online there''s a lot. Lecture isn''t mandatory except for iClickers but he goes over some homework problems and some of the test questions are straight from it. Always available to help in office hours and he responds really fast to emails. Ridiculous test curves in a good way occasional extra credit.

Horrible. Avoid at all cost. I received a decent grade but the work required was extremely rigorous. Expects you to know and memorize almost every single detail of every topic he goes through. Expect this to literally be one of the most difficult and worst classes you've taken at SB.

Do not take a class with him. He gave absolutely no context to his lecture topics, leaving everyone lost and unable to answer his questions. The incredibly high curve was a result of his lack of teaching. He gave way too much homework that didn't end up helping anyone learn the concepts - it was just extra tedious work. Worst teacher I've ever had

Extremely bad professor! AVOID him if you can! Way too much work, lectures are hard and useless, homework is way too much and hard, and his tests are impossible! He knows his stuff but he teaches as if we all had physics PhDs. One of the worst professor Ive ever had. Spent too much time in this class and learned nothing! AVOID!! AVOID!!

I felt completely lost in his class. He seems to really love physics, but he rushed through everything and expected too much from his students IMHO(written and online homework, reading cover to cover before class, making own formula sheets for all tests). I felt his exam questions were unpredictable and often outside the realm of the course.

He is absolutely useless! He doesn’t teach the class, instead wants you to come to class knowing the material. But he is helpful when you go to office hours. If I only had a choice would never ever take any class thought by him

Alex is a very enthusiastic teacher! There was a lot of homework in this class, but in the end it was a blessing because the homework was an easy grade boost. If you come to this guy for questions, he'll definitely help you! Just stay on top of the work and attend class and you'll be fine.

Although he is very jittery & has a slight speech impediment, he's a pretty good TA. When you ask him a specific question, he is very willing to sit there & help you understand it. When you ask him to give you answers, he will not comply, which is good. He makes you figure it out on your own and homework grading is pretty fair. Overall, pretty good

Alex is a fine astronomer and a gifted instructor. He uses his talents to explain the finer points of astronomy. This class is very difficult and often boring, but his passion for knowledge inspires all students to touch the sky.
