Does this Soboslai give final examine review sheets? his lectures are way too intense, I barely even understand him. After 10 mins of lecture I am completely confused. It is almost a 3 hour class and this guy can talk non stop and still run out of time.

Soboslai is too intense with his work. He literally loads you up on readings and not even from the books he makes you buy... It would be so much easier if he gave us readings from the books we have because THEN WE CAN UNDERSTAND THEM! he gives you online readings that are impossible to read because they are so hard.. Remind you THIS IS A GEN ED!

He is a very good professor. He really cares about his students and gives hints to what he likes on his papers to those who come to class. There is a quiz every week thats around 15 questions which are easy if you take good lecture notes. There is a reader you are suppose to get but i didnt get it. Overall easy class if you put in some work.

John was an amazing teacher! He's always willing to help with whatever you needed. Short lessons were easy to understand and follow along. I definitely felt myself become a better writer throughout the course of the class. Make sure you don't procrastinate as the small assignments (PB's) tend to add up and can take a long time in the end.

He makes lectures interesting so the 1 hr and 50 min go by pretty quick. He gives occasional readings but you don't necessarily need to read them. There are 3 papers, 5-6 pages each.

John is an awesome writing professor. He is engaging in class and pretty funny. He gives great feedback and is a lenient grader.

Really smart guy, it's clear that he enjoys what he's teaching, which made it alittle more interesting for us (he even fit in a few (cheesy) jokes). I took a summer session, so he talked fast throughout the whole lecture, but he posted the lectures online, which was really helpful for studying for weekly quizzes which weren't bad at all.

He has terrible essay topics and has a poor grading scale. Don't know how he became a "professor"

Awesome guy! He makes a boring class really interested, and he definitely cares about his students. I've already recommended a friend take his class, and I'd certainly recommend more.

Hands down best teacher i have had at UCSB so far. Great lectures, he acts like he is passionate about the topics. The reader for Global 1 is not necessary, I pulled off an A- and never even cracked it open. However I did take it during summer. One 10 question quiz per week, all you have to do is go to class and take good notes and your all set.
