This guy is the best. Very reasonable and respects your life outside of school. Take him.

Dr. Zakarian is the best professor to take Chem 109C with. He's very clear in lectures, although utilizing the textbook is essential when it comes to passing the class. He's probably the fairest prof in the CHEM dept when it comes to exam expectations and preparation. As long as you do the practice midterms and book problems, you'll do good.

Awesome professor! By far the easiest Ochem professor at UCSB. His exams are super fair and reflect what you learn in lecture. Definitely read the book!

Zakarian was a great lecturer with fair exams. Compared to other profs I had for OCHEM, he was the easiest, and I felt like his exams reflected the info we learned the best. Exam questions were close to those in the practice exams, review slides, and textbook questions. He is fast paced, but if you keep up with the lectures you'll be fine

Dr. Zakarian is a great ochem professor. Three midterms, one final. He does curve the class, and an 85% is typically an A-. He does lecture quite fast, but he constantly asks students if there are any concepts they would like him to go over extra. His great in office hours or over email as well. You MUST read the book to do well in the class.

He does not care about his students. This isn't a bad thing though because his grading makes OChem not as hard. He gives three midterms, 20% of your grade each, with the lowest one is dropped. The final is 60% of your grade but he uses questions similar to those on the midterms. A 85%-100% is an A.

This man is an ochem angel. He teaches well and his exams are not hard to do well on as long as you read the book. He is the only good ochem teacher at this school.

He says "um..." half of the lecture and "ah..." the other half of the lecture. But since he doesn't record his lectures, attendance is recommended. 3 midterms that are noncumulative and 1 final, cumulative. You can drop one midterm with lowest grade so that's good. Good luck.

Lectures were very simple and straight forward. Just show up and do the book problems. His test questions come straight from the recommended book problems, no problems to trick you. Final exam questions came directly from the midterms. Those who thought the class was difficult just didn't practice, its the easiest ochem class at UCSB.

Dr. Zakarian was solid. He got through the material, and was very reasonable with the midterms and final (nothing a lot harder than we did in class). His lectures and some test questions were directly from the book, make sure that you do all of the book problems. CLAS was also very helpful. The final had lots of problems directly from the midterms.

Great professor. He explains the concepts very clearly and his tests are very fair. He recommends certain book problems to do but I just did all of them and they were very helpful. There are three midterms, the first one is super easy, and he drops the lowest one. I definitely recommend him over the other Ochem professors.

His first test was a joke, incredibly easy, while the other two were a lot harder. So be prepared for that. And do the book problems he personally writes down on the board +more. Even if u don't go to class u should ask someone which problems he recommended. The class relied entirely upon the book and I never attended lecture.
