Definitely recommend taking Writing 2 with her! She is a great Professor and is clear with her instructions. There are only 3 papers about 4 pages long. No outside hw other than stuff to work on the essays and a couple short articles to read. She is very caring and takes into account student opinions.

I took several of Ellen's classes in CCS Lit and all of them were challenging and deeply fulfilling. Ellen is fully prepared for every class, expects deep readings of the material, and her teaching style is clear-cut with dashes of sarcastic humor and wit. Sharply brilliant, wonderfully well-read and deeply funny, Ellen is a fantastic professor.

Even though she's fairly new, Ellen has already become one of my favorite ucsb professors. She runs classes with a grad school style discussion, which like all ccs classes, I very much enjoyed. Nothing felt like busy work, and she gives fantastic feedback on your writing. HIGHLY recommended!

Ellen is terrific. Don't miss class and don't be late with writing assignments and you'll be fine.

Non/Fiction. Ellen is amazing. She has a passion for the subject and is clearly knowledgeable. Her enthusiasm is contagious. She assigns relevant writing assignments and class is fun! She is definitely strict about attendance but if you meet her expectations and put time into your writing, as well as stay up on the reading, you will do fine. Yay!
