Lim did not properly balance the class' work load as there was copious amounts of work to be completed in an unrealistic time frame. I would not recommend Lim to a friend as her expectations are unrealistic, her lectures are very unclear (she has a heavy accent), and she is a very tough grader considering the amount of work she assigns!

I don't know what most people are giving her bad ratings for. Her class goes into extreme depth which she takes apart every minority lit book down to its finest diction. Her breakdown of the class was tedious at times but overall I was enthralled to learn and she is very much will to assist you with your writing improvement.

Such a dumb class, can't say I learned one thing, midterm is IDs, final is a couple essays. 1 8ish page essay. all asian readings, analyzed Harold and Kumar- just exceptionally ridiculous... easy A tho, and gets a minority and lit requirement

I do not know why her rating is so high. She is by far the worst professor at UCSB. The course she teaches is English 50 MINORITY literature, but she only teaches Asian American books. Not only that, but it tries to be more of an asian american studies than a literature class. I'm half-asian myself and I felt uncomfortable in her class.

This class and its material is absolutely useless. I regret taking it, and I despise UC for forcing me to take an ethnicity GE.

The class wasn't too horrible. Definitely boring at times but worth it to attend lecture because Shirley gives out hints of what will be on exams. Lecture slides don't make sense and are not helpful. Midterm easy, final is three essays in the time allotted; one research paper. If you take it get Shanna Salinas as your TA (SUPER helpful!).

She was super cute with her slight Asian accent. Lim brought us cookies, drinks, and pizza for movie days. Def would take her again for a 1 credit class.

Worst English class I've taken at UCSB. So boring it's painful (I fell asleep many times). Not worth taking over an English elective, tedious and uninteresting. Mid-term and final were easy, research paper is 10 pages and kind of a drag but that's to be expected. Avoid Nhu as a TA, she's awful.

Asian American literature course. Decent class, lectures were often repetitive, but testing and grading were fairly easy. Covers a load of GEs. Worth taking.

i did not enjoy this class. certain comments which the professor made in class were not very PC and she often came off as ****. also, i signed up for the class thinkin it was a class of minority literature, but all we studied was asian-american literature. i was NOT happy about that. i wanted variety.

This class was supposed to be all American minority literature, but was changed to only Asian-American. the class was boring along with the material. very repetetive. Class fullfills many GE's so worth taking. Fair grading.

Good news: the prof. is good and pretty funny. Bad news: the material is pretty boring. Overall it is a good class to take care of GEs but not all that stimulating. However, the tests are really easy if you go to lecture. I would recommend it if you just want a pretty easy class to fill that literature requirement.
