The class was very interesting at some points and was easy but I did not find lectures very helpful. Had difficulty understanding most of what he said but your TA will clarify for you and it will all make sense once you get to writing your papers. Very writing intensive class and essays literally make up your entire grade.
His last class consisted of showing a clip of him ripping off his toenails. Right off the bat you should know what you're getting into. Incomprehensible rambling. He shows random clips with no relevence to anything. If you must take the class for your major, just wait another quarter and take it with another teacher.
This professor's lectures are completely incoherent & he rambles on about things that have no relevance to anything. The lectures are really boring & most of the time it seems like he is making stuff up. He also likes to play videos of himself ripping his toe nails off. Avoid this class.
He puts air quotes around things that need no quotation! His lectures are a bore, and he rarely makes sense. Avoid any class taught by him. He does have some funny jokes though, and lets his class out early occasionally.
I'm sure he's a great guy, but his lectures are completely useless and incomprehensible. He rambles about things which seem to have no relevance to the class, and plays video clips which are supposed to connect to the class in some way. His lectures are pointless but still mandatory. Just do the readings and write the papers and you'll be fine.
really nice and helpful, lectures are kind of rambling and all over the place though. difficult to understand. the good thing is there are just papers so you don't need to totally understand everything for tests.
Most dissapointing thing about taking ARTST 1A is that it seems specifically made to discourage people from being interested in majoring in Art. The professor is incomprehensible and is more content to show random video clips with little to no relevence to the course than to provide a clear lecture. Avoid taking if possible. If not, bring an iPod.
