Professor Tashman cares so much about his students which was really refreshing. He always asked us if we were keeping up with the workload and if he needed to slow down. All his assignments were fair and he doesnt try to trick you on anything. Lectures werent always clear, but the test and project were based more on the labs which were helpful.
Tashman is a really nice guy. He just could not teach. Attendance was not mandatory, but there will be random quiz in the lecture. So yes, you still have to go.
Just go to CLAS, don't bother with class. The concepts may be hard if you've never covered basic statistics at high school. I breezed through the midterm and final, slept in through half of my discussions, and got an A
He is really nice guy but he can not teach. I had no idea what he was talking about during the whole class, so I eventually stopped going after week 3. If you take him just use the book to teach you things because you could get a TA that is also impossible to understand, then you're going to need the book. But overall the class is easy if you read.
This guy clearly knows his stuff, but does a poor job of teaching it. His experience as a professional was very interesting. One major flaw was irregular topic pace: we dwelled on some concepts and rushed through others. The final confused many because it required you to apply the stat techniques to word problems and this threw people off.
bad lecturer, talks way too quickly, doesnt explain himself well, even the CLAS people say you're skrewed taking this class if you have no stats background. avoid if you can.
