Professor Hidalgo is a nice lady. However, her class is not organized and her class readings make no sense. The subjects that she discusses in class are unnecessary. Overall didn't like her class and didn't get a good grade. Take this class with someone else if you can.

Professor really loves to teach. She takes really difficult text and simplifies it over and over again. I have had other professors go over the same text and did not get it. Shes funny and cares about what she does. Takes a lot of time to grade papers, down to small grammer errors which is helpful.

Work is intense and her quizzes do not make sense. She shows inappropriate films in class(pornography) and has intense readings. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!

I had Prof Hidalgo for 3 courses this last quarter .. Soc 153, Soc 108F and Soc 159S. The readings are basically only for the small quizzes given, which aren't worth very much, but she insist on them being read. In one class I found the readings completely useless, but in the other two they were useful. Also, we watched a lot of Porn!

Do not confuse her intensity for passion...She countered the objective of this course and that was to enlighten students, to create awareness and to repair the imbalances between genders and between humans. She tipped the scale, weighed it down with cynicism and hostility...the balance was lost...This is not education...she is not a true educator.

She is very passionate about her work and really makes you understand things and think critically about issues you realize you have taken for granted your whole life. I think people don't like her because they are uncomfortable with such analyses and are in denial that they partake in these social institutions and hegemonies.
