Professor King explains concepts with clarity and precision and puts effort into making lectures interesting. No midterms or finals but weekly assignments require critical thinking. She and her TA are approachable and pleasant to interact with during office hours. Beware - attendance matters and counts for a considerable part of your grade.

i was really nervous to take this class just given the name of it but Professor King was so awesome. the class is so interesting, her TA is awesome, and the sections are fun! i struggled the first week but after going to office hours and making friends in the class it became my favorite course this quarter. don't get intimidated by the course name!

Professor King was great! She cared a lot and made the structure of the course very easy. Attendance was mandatory but all assignments and quizzes were online on gauchospace. There was an unlimited amount of time for the quizzes and assignments and no midterm or final so the class was great!

Professor King is the best professor in UCSB geog department!

Her class is pretty straight forward and easy to understand. Although there is a lot of terms to remember, they can be easily memorized because she always reviews a little bit before class. She is a super nice professor and accessible outside of class.

Very passionate about her field and makes class fun! 2 midterms & cumulative final. Slides are VERY detailed & she takes suggestions. Used textbook for reference, but you can do without it. Quizzes are way easier/shorter than assignments, midterms and finals are fair and based on lecture. Great survey/ 1st yr class!! Great survey/ 1st yr class :)

King is a good professor, however not the one for me. Her lecture slides are not detailed at all. She's very thorough and clear with explaining concepts during lecture but I had a hard time paying attention and there is so so much material to remember. Do not underestimate this class. Textbook not required but definitely helps to re-affirm info.

Come to lecture every day and you won't have to even open the book. The online homework is quite easy and the tests pretty much reflect what she's covered in lecture. She is very friendly as well and if you are a Geography major she is a great resource for any information you need. Very good intro class!

Prof. King is really enthusiastic, kind, and clear. The lectures are mostly straight from the book, so if you go to class all of the time, the reading isn't very necessary. I suggest going to class because she often does "quick checks" (like pop quizzes, very easy) She is very direct about what you will be tested on. 3 midterms, 6 long assignments

Had her in the fall 2010. Very enthusiastic about teaching the subject! Always in a happy mood! A bit stingy on the homework, well the TA's are. Willing to answer all questions! 3 Midterms no final (last midterm is basically the final) but not cumulative. Straight from the book, but going to lectures is highly recommended. You will enjoy the class!
