I'm a Stats major and I unexpectedly loved this class. Professor Somers gives modern examples that help you grasp the concepts. His lectures involve controversial topics and promote participation. His midterm and final are very straight forward, and for the two papers, make sure to go to OH before you submit them. BEST CLASS I'VE TAKEN AT UCSB!

He is really easy to talk to. Go to his office hours and introduce yourself!!!!!

Austin is so sweet he really cares about his students and you can tell he's excited about teaching. He's a really nice professor and the class is easy, but it is also boring. It's not as interesting as it sounds. Take it for an easy A but don't expect it to be exciting.

Extremely helpful! Always stayed behind after section to see if people needed help. Definitely helped me to understand the material better and was always available to help out with my papers (whether it be in person or through e-mail). Brilliant TA & an all around nice (and cute) guy.

Austin is the only reason I passed Critical Thinking. Stayed after office hours to (patiently) explain basic concepts. By far the best TA I've had at UCSB.

Took him for phil 1 and 3. Always willing to stay extra hours to help. Really knows his material... both classes were pretty easy. Although, Phil 3 was more challenging.

Super helpful. Grades very fairly. He knows his stuff and is also nice to look at which makes section more entertaining.

He is very irresponsible. Doesn't help you outside of class at all and grades very strict compared to how he says he will grade!
