Easy grade but heavy material; everyone who took this class spring 21 would give the same ratings. Probably the most important class i've taken and Mimi is AMAZING- so understanding and open! We had small groups that met outside class. She recorded classes (with our permission each class) and most people still kept their cameras on :)

Any question you ask she will simply reiterate your question and ask the class, not answer it herself. TA Crissy Lau was a better lecturer, her lectures are organized. As far as midterm and final as much as we asked for clarification we got none, which is why the majority failed the 2nd portion of the paper. Interesting cls. she is a bit confusing

Not very helpful especially when in comes to midterm and final. Did not explain clearly what was expected and then graded everyone poorly because no one had what she wanted even though she never said anything about what she wanted. She is nice and is passionate about the subject, but unless you are a womens studies major, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS

this is the most unhelpful teacher i have ever had at ucsb. the material is not hard but she makes it a million times more difficult that necessary and admits to being an extremely hard grader, in her eyes a C is a grade given for a job well done. essay midterm and final, mandatory attendance, and weekly writing reflections.
