Aside from his thick Spanish accent, Checa's is an amazing lecturer! If you read the assigned material before class, it'll help you take better notes in class since you can't understand what he writes on the board. He has you take three exams which really test if you read the material. If you read- you're solid! My fav class at SB so far!

He speaks very softly and is monotone. Rambles the entire time and does not stop, not even to answer questions. He doesn't like students to question anything. And his lectures are just summaries of the reading. For tests, he just puts a name or term and you must write everything you know in 10 sentences. HARD grader and not fair!

this guy is sooooper easy!!!! just study his study guide and youre golden! i crammed for 2 hrs b4 the test and got a B. but he is also really boring and u cant understand him at all

the sweetest guy ever. i loved him. hard to follow at times but you must attend lecture to understand the midterms and finals. easy though. do the study guide thats all you need

I absolutely LOVE him. He is by far my favorite professor that I've had at UCSB. I have taken 3 of his classes! All of his notes are on Powerpoint, so make sure that you attend class. His tests are very straightforward and easy if you study. Just do the study guide that he gives you and it is basically the notes. I recommend him 100%.

He is very passionate about his work, knows his material. Yup, there's a lot of lecturing but presents interesting points all in PowerPoint so bring your laptop. If you do the readings material is easier to understand. Very nice person and doesn't have a lisp, that's his Spanish accent. On study guides make sure 2 get partners to cover everything.
