HAJDA J M
Dr. Hajda provided informative material and applicable tools of analysis that are helpful for any film or music student. I love the dry humor he brought to his lectures and he was very helpful during office hours, especially for the final project. Word of advice though, do not procrastinate on the final as it's worth 70% of the grade.
The first class at this school that Ive ever not gotten an A in. Horrible at explaining things, the most boring professor Ive ever had. No information you learn in this class is applicable to life, incredibly forgettable and useless. Avoid this class, its the biggest academic mistake Ive ever made.
Dr. Hajda is a decent teacher. He's just one of the most boring teachers I've ever had. He's nice and can be funny and doesn't make the class too difficult. If you take 160f thinking it's about timbre, what causes it, and how it affects people, that's hardly what you'll get. All he talks about is the research that was used to learn about it.

This is the worst professor at UCSB. He was extremely unorganized and his lectures didn't make sense. Also the book he chose was confusing and unclear. Unless you have experience with this topic avoid this class at all costs. It should not be offered in the psych department.
He has no lecture slides and is very disorganized during lecture. He is a nice guy, but don't let that fool you. The textbook doesn't make sense and the tests are based on random material. I would not recommend taking this class unless you are genuinely interested in the subject matter
Hajda is a good prof. He's pretty funny - he has a super dry sense of humor that keeps the class interesting. Very flexible with the direction of the course. A bit opinionated (and you must know HIS opinions for the exams), but overall his exams are fair and he grades fairly as well - the grade you get is going to be the grade you deserve.
A great professor. He has a excellent understand of what he teaches and his sense of humor makes his class interesting. His tests are a bit long but they are a breeze if you spend just 1 hour brushing up on the material before.
Second class with him. He's got a dry sense of humor and makes class enjoyable. Great teacher.

Hajda is awesome. Great class (film music cognition). 'Nuff said.
