He was very clear in his lectures and the tests were very easy. As long as you did all the homework assignments in the book then you were golden for the tests. It is a fun class for anyone who enjoys music. I recommend this class!

One of my favorite professors in my time at UCSB! It definitely helps to have a music background for his class, but even if you don't he's a suuuper nice guy, really approachable, and very helpful!

Russ is great - I loved every minute of his class. He's a young guy who connects well with his students. Made music theory fun! Class might be somewhat difficult without prior musical experience, but he is clear and efficient. Tests are easy; makes it very simple to get an A. Definitely recommend his class. Very flexible & approachable teacher.

He's awesome. Nice and funny, really knows what he's talking about. I've noticed some people who complain about the lack of clarity or difficulty of the class just don't do their hw or go to section. Those are musts and if you do them, the class is a breeze.

This guy was very friendly, I thought he was good at explaining how things work. Some of his explanations could be simpler, and in some cases he seemed to explain a bit too quickly. Doing exercises from the textbook is essential for doing well in this course. I think people who show up every time and do all the homework find his class easy.

His TA is much better in explaining stuff than he is. The class is extremely boring, and if you don't have a musical background, you'll be lost. Unfair!

He talks way too fast and is hard to follow! I understand that half of the class has some musical background, but the class was meant to be for people who have no clue about music...
