Catalini challenged students to be informed and responsible for their own work. Very helpful in improving professional portfolio and getting students ready for work after college,
Talk about BORING! 2 hours of him talking nonsense about philosophy and critiquing movies he's seen. EVERYONE in class was confused and bored. Assignments are easy enough i guess, he gives a lot of leeway on when you turn in the paper and the topics of them. Like other ratings-if you can honestly handle 2hrs of boredom then go right ahead..
Although this class was really boring, it's really easy to get an A. Papers range from 500-1000 words max and he'll go through your paper, make some suggestions, and let you turn it in again. He's really fun as well, so it makes up for how boring the material is.
His class may seem easy at first, but by the final essay he's strict on every you put on it. Also I've tried going to his office hours multiple times but he's never there, and doesn't really help you with preparing for the final exam...
He is funny and easy, but the class itself is SO boring. I can't explain how boring it is. If you are willing to deal with boring for a good grade, take his classes.
Prof.Catalini is amazing! I had him for summer session. super super easy, I highly recommend to take his class! first paper was 800 words, 2nd paper was a script and the 3rd research/final paper he said to keep it maximum 5-6 pages. we had to do a final presentation that was super easy too. I love this guy he is amazing:D
Professor Catalini is a truly wonderful person. His style of teaching is unlike any other I've experienced - confusing at times, yet brilliantly configured. Besides being absolutely hilarious, he is almost like your Grandpa - cares more about you than any other prof. you'll have. What an incredible man... I only hope to have another class with him.
He's very interested in all subject matters, so be active and participate and he'll respect you. If you want to grow as a writer, do your best, otherwise it's really easy to slack off and still get an A-. He takes a little while to appreciate, but he's a funny guy.
One of the best professors I've had at UCSB. He may seem a bit intimidating at first, but you'll get used to him. The assignments were very easy and interesting. I definitely recommend this guy!
He is a wonderful person, but I seriously wasted a quarter of my life doing nothing and listening to him talk about things irrelevant to WRIT EC. It was really easy class (easy A, B); however, he definitely did not prepare me for the real world and I felt like my intelligence was made fun of for having to fill in blanks like a 6th grader.
Even if you do not do anything in the class, he will help you pass. I've skipped half of the classes and he still allowed me to turn in late work and my essays were written in like 30 minutes each...and i still got A's and B's on them. He's also a great guy.
Catalini is a great professor to have for writing 50. Class discussions are interesting and you have a lot of freedom in what you can write about in your paper. If you put effort into the class you will get an A no doubt.
