Best CS professor I have had at UCSB so far! He is really passionate about the subject and does his best to make sure that everyone can succeed! Seems like everyone can achieve the grade they work for, very fair grader! Highly recommend (wish he taught all CS courses).

Forget about those CS 170 reviews. Duncan is hands-down, my top 3 favorite professors at UCSB. He is charming, witty, easy-going, and treats his students like they're his kids. He teaches with absolutely no BS and makes material exciting and engaging. He is absolutely the easiest professor you can have for any CS class, bar none.

I don't know what happened during CS170, but I do know that Duncan did a stellar job of teaching CS64. He is an incredibly helpful, caring, and humorous instructor. Even though the department seems to be having a difficult time designing the CS64 curriculum, Duncan successfully pushed through. I absolutely recommend taking his course. j CoolProf #

I'm not sure how he is in upper division courses, but this teacher was one of the best I've had at this school. He provides aid on hw and gives hints on midterms/finals, and explains exactly what he's testing for. Only thing I regret is not attending more of his lectures. Awesome teacher!
