Treu's a funny guy. He's got an awesome accent and he's really really nice! His lectures were fun and chill--dealt more with concepts then with book problems. The curve was very fair too! All of this doesn't even matter anymore as he left us to go researchteach at UCLA. He's a funny guy! I love him!
Treu is a great guy and really passionate about the material but unfortunately he's just not a very good professor. Lectures were completely useless; all he did were iClickers and demos. Homework was hard but the tests were harder. The curve saved my ass. Just going to lecture won't help, you'll need to read the book and utilize CLAS to do well.
Be wary if you are not a physics major. Lectures are all conceptual stuff and nothing that will help you on homework or tests. His tests are awkwardly written and the questions require you to guess what to do since they're not like any homework problems. Even though his tests are open note and book they're still very difficult.
He's a great guy, funny and open to answering questions. Really knows his stuff!
I have had Tommanso for Astro 1 and 2, and I have to say he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Just an all around genuine person who loves to teach. The only complaint I can think of is some of his test questions are awkwardly worded. He grades generously, so even if he has a problem that is a little weird, it'll balance out in the long run.
Great professor. Makes the class very interesting and is generally clear and straightforward. Recommended for anyone interested in the subject.
