I signed up for this website just to warn people about her. The overall class topic was completely different than the class description on GOLD. Going off of that, she is disorganized and signs people up for assignments or presentations and doesn't tell them. Also she purposely assigned an unrealistic amount of reading for the first few weeks.

She is purely amazing! seriously! She is super flexible and cares about student's learning outcome. If you got questions, Ask! Ask! Ask! She is just too nice to us!

LOVED this class! Professor is very knowledgeable, and is an easy and flexible grader. No midterm or final, just a few group projects/presentations and a final paper. The paper was honestly the most fun I have had with academic writing. She is definitely a quirky character, but is very passionate about the subject and cares about her students.

Prof Wattles is an interesting lady. She has a different way of teaching, but is extremely understanding as long as you let her know what's happening. There was a group project where we made a Japanese painting website, which was tedious but we had a good group so it was kinda fun. Do the work, show up, communicate, and participate. No problems.

Professor Wattles is a gem of knowledge. She really guided me in thinking about art in a different way. I hate speaking in class, but she got it out of my by asking good questions. She is very approachable and I highly suggest chatting with her during office hours. Take her graduate seminar! She will let undergraduates in if you aren't an imbecile.

This professor will agree to Honors contracts and then will NOT give them to you at the end of the quarter. She was unfair in grades and was rude in return to comments.

Can be frustrating because she's not very organized, but the class is easy in return. Able to skim readings, no tests, just presentations and a paper. She does require attendance though, and a lot of in class discussion. Easy to get kudos by using art history terms. She is very helpful & eager to discuss related topics outside of class.

Super boring lectures, especially for art history majors. Her lectures aren't very organzied and she spends 30-40minutes each class reviewing the previous lecture. The foreign TA's make more sense than Wattles most of the time. I suggest avoiding this professor.

She comes off as being really strict, and a bit of an arbitrary grader, but she's actually pretty easy to please. The lectures were poorly organized, and it was sort of hard to take notes because we would talk about random artists. The reader was useless. Be sure to visit her office hours to get a good grade.

She is the most worthless professor in the department, if not the entire university. I could feel my IQ dropping everytime she would walk in the room. I took the class hoping to learn about Japanese art, and walk away wishing I could find a way to have her fired. DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!

She is super knowledgable and interesting. She assigns a fair amount of work but it's all interesting and she grades flexibly. She DOES expect everyone to participate but she's always really encouraging when you do. If you're interesting in ANYTHING Japanese, I HIGHLY reccomend Professor Wattles.

Great teacher, nice as could be, kept the class very interesting. Just like the other comments said, though, it was really nerve recking to be expected to speak up in class. I hate getting called on.
