great lecturer. everything is very clear, but you must show up to every lecture because she goes covers a lot and lectures are not posted online. I really enjoyed her class and thought it was fairly easy if you keep up with readings and go to every lecture. absolutely recommended

She's very passionate about her work. Only a midterm, final, and a paper. No homework assigned (unless assigned by your TA). You do learn a lot just from the lectures if you pay attention.

Very passionate and knowledgeable. However, I feel as though the class packed too much information into one quarter. Tests focused on very specific events and this history class wasn't as great as others I've taken. Wouldn't recommend this class, but wouldn't mind taking another class with her.

She lectures SO well. I've taken 3 history classes, and she's the best yet. My TA wasn't too great and if it wasn't for him I would have gotten an easy A. Definitely tons of mandatory reading, doesn't post lectures. If you go to lecture though, you will not be bored. She's amazing, super knowledgable, and answers all your questions in lecture

Class is interesting, she is passionate which makes the class a lot better. TA sections are great but TA's differ so some TA's grade a lot harder than others. Tests aren't too hard. Would recommend this class.

No lecture outlines posted on Gauchospace. If you miss a single class, its hard to review later when you are preparing for the exams. The course's context is easy. However, the professor's demanding restriction on essays and sections make the class hard.

It's true this professor lectures well. The only downfall to her style of lecturing is that she goes too fast over the info. What's most disappointing is this professor's unavailability. She likes cancels office hours and refuses to answer emails over the weekend. The content is interesting but the professor's interest in her students is weak.

Great Lecturer! changed my perception on Latin American countries.Tests include questions, IDs, and two essays which are pretty easy if you paid attention lectures. Definitely recommend this class and professor.

Professor was very rude, and she kept canceling her office hours. Her exams are very specific, pay close attention to your readings and you will pass the class.

This was the worst class I have taken at UCSB. I am a history major and it was seriously horrible...don't take this class unless you want to WORK your butt off for a B. Shes a great lecturer but thats about it. Shes NEVER available for office hours, makes her tests SO SPECIFIC that its ridiculous....also a lot of reading. Good luck if you take it!

She lectures fine, but not helpful to students. She purposely does not put powerpoints online, she goes through them very quickly so you can't write everything down and she cancels office hours a lot. Tests are too hard, covers every detail from the reader and lectures. Studying will get you a B. Essays are the easy part.
