Lisa is so sweet and clearly loves teaching and the environment. There are 8 homework checks and 8 syntheses, midterm and final. And iclicker that you can replace with more weight in syntheses I believe. I liked the first half a lot more in terms of content, but it wAs more work. Syntheses got shorter after the midterm. Easier with friends!

I liked this class a lot more than I expected! I don't like math in general, but Lisa was very clear. She gears the class to math that will actually help you as an ES major. She doesn't try to cover too much material. Go to class and lab or you will be lost.

labs taught effective use of excel. but twas the most mundane & painful lecture. her voice irritates me & the syntheses were too long sometimes. overall easy A & more applicable to the ES major + i took AP stats in high school so i knew all of that already & 34A taught derivatives. had to teach myself integrals b/c i was too bored to pay attention

I guess it was a better option than 34B. Hw online is either word for word from handbook or impossible readings. Lectures have iclicker, which are all opinions. Not great at explaining the math part, which SHOULD be most important. The lab helped more. Record your lab w/ voice memo! TA gives synthesis answers in lab. Oh, & she IS condescending.

Good teacher and class but assigns too much unnecessary work..learned a lot about excel and basic calc.

Took the class instead of taking 34B for environmental studies major. Have to go to class and sections to pass, but I felt like it was a waste of my time. Mostly algebra/stats/basic calc taught through word problems. Didn't really learn anything knew besides how to use Excel better. Midterms and final relatively easy if study for them.

As an ES major you either take ES25, Math34B or 3B. TAKE THE MATH CLASSES! This class should be extremely easy material, but she makes it HARD. There are WEEKLY assignments on both Gaucho Space and Excel that we spent MIN of 3 HOURS on. I know she is nice, but WAY too much work for a 4 unit class. Mandatory Attendance to lecture and section!!

where to begin...she likes to talk about how she is an anal professor and definately carries out that personality trait. she likes to assign pointless homework that takes hours to do, when really, she is asking the same questions over and over again but with just different examples. pretty condesending too.

Lisa is a brilliant mind and probably among the best teachers I've ever had. She always explains things clearly and truly wants all of her students to succeed in mastering the class material. Truly a gifted teacher. She's also the best TA in ES and did I mention she's breathtakingly gorgeous?
