The definition of a tenured professor who gave up trying to get her students engaged in the material decades ago. Learned way more from the TA. Easy tests though.
She really loves Latin American and Iberian Studies and sincerely wants her students to learn. Her lectures were kind of boring but she gives pop quizzes so it's good to show up. Reading wasn't overwhelming maybe 100 pages a week. Her TA Miguel Beccera was helpful and a pretty easy grader on papers. Midterm and Final were VERY easy
I enjoyed this class, lectures were interesting. She is very helpful and she makes sure you understand concepts. Overall easy if you do the readings.
her lectures were just an outline of the book but she managed to still make that more boring than doing the reading. everyday she'd rant about her own fieldwork. each time she mentioned the name of the "indians" she studied, she'd write it on the board...at least now i won't ever forget how to spell Mixteco.
You will regret taking any class with this woman. Hard to understand, unorgranized, hard to hear, mumbles and can't give insightful answers to student's questions. Unenthusiastic.
Worst professor of my life. Dry and uninteresting, mumbles, unable to hold a train of thought, goes off on random, irrelevant tangents, antagonistic when asked to clarify. Lectures were slow torture. I overheard other students saying that this was the first time that they've had to take a class P/NP just because the professor was so intolerable.
