Complete Boss, he's a total old school businessman and a breath of fresh air after the typical UC professor, but he can come off as abrasive some of the time.
Great guy
Go to class and show interest. He tells you a lot of what will be on the test from lecture. You have to semi-memorize a lot of lists, but it isn't as bad as it seems. Start early on the group project and don't make it too complicated. Totally worthwhile to take this class - it's very interesting, Lowes is the real thing - great anecdotes
Very fast paced class and Mr. Lowes is def. the cut-throat kind of guy. Classes are small so hes gonna notice if you arent showing up. No formal text book, but you do have to read 2 300 books. MAKE SURE you read them. 2 Exams = 2/3 books, 1/3 lecture. Group project is intense, only gives A to best project. Good Business class with a financial angle
a
You'll learn a lot in this class. The tests are difficult but you'll be fine if you pay clear attention in his lecture and understand all the books. Caring guy but also very straightforward executive guy. For me, this class brought together all of my accounting classes and made it more relevant.
Former CFO of Burger King. He has all kinds of connections to CEOs all over the place. We had the CEO of Jamba Juice coming in, and other people. If you want to learn about BUSINESS, this is the class you want to take. Best class at UCSB I think. You learn the stuff you really need, not only some theory. Cut throat guy, awesome class !!!!
This guy was great. former CFO for Tricon Global Restaurants (Pizza Hut, taco Bell, KFC). great classes to learn from one who was at the center of the finance/economics/big business industry.
