I really liked this Professor's teaching style. Lecture was pretty interesting and understandable despite the dense material, and he was super helpful. He definitely wants his students to succeed and if you work hard you'll get a good grade
Highly intelligent and truly wants his students to succeed in understanding the course material. A hidden gem of a professor! Tough concepts and readings, but I learned so much and have no regrets.
I graduated from UCSB in 2007. He was the most influential professor I've ever had. He changed my view of Sociology, rather my area of interest. I took Sociology of conflict, a class he taught. I took it as an elective thinking I would dislike it. Most interesting class. Wi**** is a true intellectual and has a powerful mind. He's pretty cute too
Very passionate about the work he does. Overall awesome person and the professor that made the largest impact on me and my career while attending UCSB.
Genius!
It's an interesting class. He's a good teacher and really helpful/nice. He wants you to do well. He gives you the test questions in the beginning of the quarter and you can bring 8 pages of notes to the midterm and final. As long as you take some notes in class and do the study guide questions for the tests it's really easy
I love this teacher, he is very succinct and is excellent at stimulating students to enjoy things like theory and reading works by Marx and other classic sociologists.
I agree with all of the good reviews. He is brilliant, passionate, and a great lecturer! Take this class if you can.
I want to take all his classes, he's very inspiring. It's hard reading, but so interesting once you get involved. I really like his style.

I just admire his dedication to sociology so much! the guy is a sociogenius. he knows what he's talking about and I'm sorry for sounding like a nerd, but it's only boring if you haven't been doing your readings!
took the class... hard to understand his lectures because he jumps around from topic to topic...and to top it off very boring
