I loved this class! Professor Shelton is such an incredibly smart and well-read woman. She started class off with current articles and subsequent discussion relating to the topics. There is no midterm and the final is solely written. Be warned, this class is a TON of reading (4 books, including a 600 page + reader), but well worth it!
Class was a review of the reading. Which was nice, since I didn't always want to read the assignments. To be fair, they were actually very interesting. Just a lot to get through. Fair grader. Spoke clearly. Made class fairly interesting. Also pretty easy since the books and lecture overlapped A LOT. Stands in front and talks for an hr. No slides.
SO BORING. useless class. skipped alot. got an A. dont take it. shes a very nice old lady and gave us cookies the last day. but so boring i couldnt stand it.
Very boring lecturer. Way too many slides to memorize for the exams, reading did not correspond to her lectures. I would not recommend a class with her.

Pretty interesting subject but lectures were a little boring. Very nice and helpful professor... Final was worth 70% of our grade though, but exams were'nt too bad. Definelty would take her again and recommend her
This was Roman Civlisation. She was very helpful, very clear, and she told you what you needed to know on the exams, and what she wanted to see on the exam. Definitely recommend her.
I was interested in the subject, payed attention, went to the class, did some reading and pulled off an A-. Midterm 35%, final 60%, quiz 5%. Good teacher, who really knows what she is talking about. She is all about the slides! Going to the review the night before the tests helped so much! If youre interested in the subject I recommend the class!
This class is really cool. I'd totally suggest taking it if you are interested in ancient society. The prof. has really clear lectures, and if you pay attention you'll do well on the tests.
We learned a lot about walls in this class: staring at this professor is like staring at one of them. The focus of this class should have been the culture of Pompeii; instead, you're tested on the direction of a wall. Bring a compass.
Shelton is a nice lady, very easy to talk to. Lectures are pretty interesting.Tests are easy because she repeats things over and over in class that will be on the test. There is a lot of emphasis on dates though. You will definitely learn a great deal about Pompeii if its what you are interested in.
