I took this as a comm major and don't regret it. Your grade is based on a midterm, final, attendance, and participation in section. You are able to use a 1pg cheat sheet and are given a study guide beforehand with potential test questions. Lectures are *key* for this class - I would write down EVERYTHING she says, and what is said in section.

She was very nice but we are not able to see our grade until it is submitted on the last day so its hard to know what to work harder at. Midterm and Final are the only major grades so you have to do good on those. Hard to hear her lectures sometimes so sit in the front.

Boring to listen to during lecture. For the midterm and final she gives you the questions that will actually be on it and you get to bring in a cheat sheet. But because of this, it is graded pretty intensely. 2 forum posts and replies due by week ten

this class had so much potential but i was really let down. the material is interesting but the delivery is so boring and filled with awkward pauses its hard to stay engaged. she also does not speak loudly so good luck taking notes if you sit too far back. midterm and final need lots of preparation but knowing the questions beforehand helps a ton.

It makes me sad to see the reviews for Professor Falasca; she was one of the best professors that I took at UCSB. There are 2 assignments: a midterm and the final exam, which she gives you the questions for before so you can prepare yourself. If you answer all the questions, you will pass the test with an A.

This professor doesn't seem invested at all. she reads off a sheet of paper in a monotone voice. this subject could be very interesting but it's not. tests only based on readings, not lectures and she never goes over those dense readings in class. TA was a really tough grader I did all readings and my friend did not however she did better than me.

Class was straight forward & easy to understand. Professor Falasca gives amazing lectures that are informational but not dense and connect very well with the readings. She never goes on tangents, she comes prepared to teach! Graded on one short written assignment, a 2 short essay midterm and 3 short essay final. Reading was very manageable!

Loved this class, it was really informational and not too much work. There was no midterms or final, just a few 10 question multiple choice tests. Her lectures a very short and to the point which is GREAT. No sections. 3 disc board posts for the quarter. 1 mc question on lecture for every week. Readings are long but connect to class. Overall good!

Class consists primarily of 6 "assignments", three of which are MC tests and the other three are essays. Tests questions are absurdly specific and difficult, while the grading for the essays is draconian. Honestly just unnecessarily hard especially considering the material isn't complex; skip this class it's just really really not worth it

Falasca seems like a good person overall. But, this glass was graded very harsh. She also said in the syllabus that there would be no tests, but turns out, there are "tests/quizzes" just disguised as being called "weekly assignments". Interesting subject matter, she offers two extra credit opportunities, but not a fan of how things are graded.

Great professor! Taught social theory in such a simple and easy-to-understand manner. Would definitely take again !

This class had 1 midterm exam, PPT presentation (3mins), & research paper. Unique course that I would take again, I flunked that exam but luckily I was able to pass with a C. Easy besides all the readings. Attend class to grasp a better understanding of the readings from the lectures. Taken this teacher x2. She also teaches Social Theory.
