Professor Schneider is one of the better econ professors at UCSB. What I respect most about him is his ability to empathize for his students. He structured the class to be very accomodating to a student's schedule, so if you're working a part-time or full-time job while enrolled as a student, Professor Schneider is a solid pick.

I really liked Schneider because the material is very practical and I find his tangents interesting even though I am not pursuing tax. I get how some people may find his structure in lecture confusing but everything is based off the textbook and he is really helpful outside of class. He adds random extra credit and really wants students to do well!

Extremely boring professor who was more interested in talking about his political beliefs than teaching taxation. Does not give any explanation for his grades on exams and neither does he show you what you got wrong and why. Not sure why the mystery? Extremely lazy and haphazard approach to teaching and grading. Avoid him at all costs.

He really sticks to the book which is nice since the book is actually helpful and has good examples. If you want to do well, read the book and take notes, do every application problem, take advantage of extra credit offered, and ask questions. Schneider wants students to do well and it shows. Best accounting elective class and 138B is great too.

Make sure you go to lecture because he does a great job wrapping up the main points. Very fair grader and very knowledgeable as well.

This is worst accounting class I've taken at UCSB. Even though I'm lined up for a tax job I shouldn't have taken 138b. His lectures are extremely boring and don't prepare you for the tests or the CPA exams. Our grade was entirely based on FIVE tests. There are no old tests to practice and the book sucks. Avoid this prof at all costs.

Best professor I have encountered in UCSB thus far. Witty sense of humor with the knowledge to match.

Schneider is really smart and knows what he's talking about. This was a really useful class. He is really clear, a great teacher, and uses the book a lot, which is nice. Would definitely recommend this class.

nice teacher. easy to ask questions. uses book a lot, if you read book cover to cover you will do good. no project anymore(well at least in winter 14). no attendance. grade based all on test/quizzes. so far not too bad. open book tests. nothing really unexpected on tests. I recommend taking for accting elective-seems relatively easy to others.

you only need to go to class to find out when the quizes are due and about extra credit if he offers any next quarter. all tests are open book which means they are super hard. the project isnt so bad anymore

Just keep up with the reading to do well on the quizzes and you should be fine! 1 Midterm, 1 Final, both open note and book so they're easy. Quizzes are harder than tests because you don't get to use notes. Take for CPA business law credits!
