One of the hardest anthropology classes I have ever taken. There is a ridiculous amount of reading and he goes over the material really fast and it is hard to write down everything he says. He can be intimidating but is a fair grader. One midterm, one final.
As long as you pay attention during lecture, read what is required, and connect the dots, you'll be fine. Readings weren't too tough, but the lectures can be repetitous & aswani can be overly self-indulgent. Avoid stories about his travels-unless you want him to be off subject for the a whole class period.
He has strong opinions and will call you out if you're not doing your readings. Not as hard of a grader as I had expected. Lecture slides have too many words so you're better off just listening to the lecture.
The professor doesn't invest any extra time into teaching. Slides are outdated and it is obvious that the professor does not want to be in the classroom. Communication is poor and people from the Pacific feel that the instructor only gives attention to the male perspective and does not account for women in the Pacific. It's an ecological account.

Man this was a hard class, but he was a fair grader. Just do the reading and you just might get an A.
