WELTER V W
Very hard class, all the teacher does it lecture. I took it as an elective but it was a lot of work. Quizzes are hard, Midterm and Final are in class essays that you need to prepare a lot for, it's a lot of information. I wouldn't take it unless you need it.
I would not consider this an easy class at all, unless you are an architecture major which I am not. It's interesting content, but he expects you to really pay attention to lecture and write down everything he says, meaning you really can't skip class at all. He is funny and nice to listen to but extremely old fashioned. In class essay exams!!!!!
If you're an architecture major you'll likely be fine, but if you're just looking to add an extra class I wouldn't take this. Attendance is mandatory, and tech is not allowed during class. He doesn't answer any questions about the midterm or final, which he graded pretty critically, and will give you a zero if you're even one minute late.
class consists of lectures + weekly online quizzes, midterm/final exams. lectures are honestly kind of funny, and the quizzes and exams aren't super tough! welter doesn't allow technology like laptops during class.
Professor Welter is a delightful lecturer and has a good sense of humor. He's always very clear about class expectations and it's easy to do well on weekly quizzes if you pay attention to the readings and his presentations. Attendance wasn't mandatory this year but he said he'd change that next time because so few students showed up...
Professor Welter is really funny and his lectures are pretty interesting if you like Architecture. His class was super easy, consisting of weekly quizzes and 2 midterms. All of the questions from the midterms came directly from the quizzes, so make sure to write those answers down.
Only graded on weekly quizzes (get 2 attempts), midterm, and final - midterm and final questions pulled from quizzes. Everything is straight from the assigned weekly readings (which were pretty light) and lectures. Welter made a boring subject interesting and I would recommend taking this class with him if given the opportunity.
I loved Professor Welter. He was very passionate about the class material. The course was well organized and expectations were clear. Weekly readings and quizzes that could be taken twice for full credit on Canvas.
Professor Welter is a great lecturer and makes the class really easy to understand. I am by no means an art history major, but I found the content interesting and was able to be relatively successful in this class. Professor Welter is very passionate about architecture, and it really shows in this class.
Very kind and passionate despite what people say, not conceited or pretentious at all! Very approachable as well. Quizzes were online and based on lecture slides/readings and final/midterm based on these quizzes. His lectures were interesting for a non major as well.
He is super passionate and engaging. Attendance was not mandatory, and his class is based on entirely just the quizzes. All the quiz questions you've seen before get reused for the midterm and final so study those. Couldn't recommend this class enough. Great prof & fascinating material.
The worst course I have ever taken.
