Took it PNP. Worst class at UCSB. She is not clear on instructions, no clear grading scale. Got mad when we asked for more instructions. Everything is super subjective. Curves class by comparing you to classmates. Talked too much about her personal life story and gives unsolicited cheesy life lessons. 0/10, avoid at all cost.

Lecture us more about life than the actual class material. No clear grading scheme and curved DOWN during a pandemic for this GE class

I took her vernacular reading class, which was focused on novels written in Ming and Qing dynasty. She is definitely a Great teacher, very kind and knowledgable. She is precious, I am so glad and blessed to had the chance to study in her class.

Definitely do not take this class. At least two pages summary every week, and a 5-page final paper based on your presentation. She knows that the final paper due on Tuesday, but she still assigned a 4-page summary due on Monday. Lots of stories about herself but nothing related to the material. Terrible professor

She gives tons of homework. You have to write 1 to 2 summaries every week. There is one group project and one paper you have to write. Make sure you go to class, because she takes attendance/gives pop quiz every lecture.

She is overly strict. She has many different ways to check your attendence during the lectures. No late assignment though you just late one sceond and she won't accept it anymore. It is very terrible. Take care!
