OTA K H
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you do need to learn the dances with the music. For the final they play a song and expect you to know what dance goes with it. He is a funny guy and the ta was helpful, but if you have no rhythm maybe it isn't the class for you.
When I took this class none of the dances were mandatory. Attendance isn't required but if you don't go, you don't learn the moves. He was funny and made for an enjoyable 50 minutes
I enjoy ballroom dancing and this class helped me learn more dances and moves for those dances. Coming to class will help you pass, and the more formal dances are mandatory, which you had to pay for. You didn't have to go to the formal dances, but you would have to take the final in class at the end. It was a P/NP class.
Sensei Ota is not the actually teaching, more like supervising. Andrew and the TAs are the people who are teachings the basics and they are all awesome! Mondays and Wednesdays were my busy days, but I always looked forward to this class. Fun, highly recommended; take it even if you're slightly interested!
Elementary Ballroom dancing is alot of fun! I had a blast learning different dances and going to dances they held. It's worth it. Mr. Ota is a funny and an awesome teacher.
he's like the coolest teacher ever, he's really funny and passionate about dance.
One of the best and funnest classes I ever took at UCSB. Recommend it to everyone. Even if you dont like to dance you will love it by the end of the quarter. Have fun
so hot. all i can say is that i jump at the chance to dance with him during class..owwwww
really fun and relaxing class, should take it each quarter, both guys and grls will enjoy it. Ota is a very man, he really can give you a laugh, go to the dances and meet a bunch of friendly ppl. make sure you drag friends along, makes it mroe fun...
I LOVE THIS CLASS!! Mr. Ota is awesome! He bothers some people because he's very set in his ways and he likes to talk A LOT, but he is very wise, and he knows his stuff. He reminds me of Mr. Miyagi (karate kid) combined with Yoda! Have fun!!
