He is a patient and nice teacher. His midterm was simple and straightforward once you prepared the questions in the ppt. And his final was a bit hard but he graded it in fine way.

I don't usually do ratings but I had to for this prof. Very genuine, respectable professor. You can tell he is passionate about his job. No exams, 4 labs, 4 homework and final project the whole semester. Highly recommend taking his class.

I would recommend everyone take a class with Professor Abuzaid. He accommodates students at any level while not feeling condescending. He is very open to helping during office hours and will work through topics carefully to ensure understanding. Overall, an amazing professor I can't recommend enough.

Although the material in PSTAT120B was challenging, prof was top tier. The most patient, accommodating, and caring teacher at UCSB. He answers emails very quickly. When I struggled in the course, he did everything he could in order to help me succeed and be at the place I wanted to be in the class. 100/10 recommend him. He's seriously the best.

I thought that Prof. Abuzaid was a very good professor and because of that I was able to easily understand the concepts for PSTAT 120B. His lecture slides with the annotations are super helpful because doing the examples from the slides as well as doing the homework made it easy to understand. We had 3 quizzes and he dropped the lowest 2.

amazing teacher, super compassionate and responds to emails quickly. i felt as though the midterms were fair and the final project helped me learn alot + boosted my grade. it was hard, but definitely doable with some work. i really enjoyed having Abuzaid as a professor and I learned a lot about linear regression as well.

Professor Abuzaid is extremely helpful and a very fair professor! I enjoyed taking his class, and appreciate the time and effort he took explaining the reasoning behind every concept.

Very nice professor who cares about his students. Lectures are decent, though they often focus on proofs. The final project effectively ties all topics together. He is accommodating and considerate.

Professor was very nice, cared about students. 3 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final, highest quiz was kept. HW every week but was max 10 or so problems. Lectures were long but provided good material. If you study the lectures and homework, you'll do well on the exams.

The course content was challenging, but Prof. Abuzaid was very supportive. The course was well-structured, following a clear routine with 3 quizzes (with the best score counted). The homework was lengthy but valuable for understanding the concepts. If you can complete the homework and practice exams thoroughly, the exams should feel fair.

Nice guy with reasonable quizzes/exams, posts all HW solutions and lecture notes (which are pretty good) on Canvas. Unfortunately, thick accent makes him hard to follow during lecture. The annotated notes helped me more than his actual explanations.

As an exchange student, I thoroughly enjoyed my learning experience in the PSTAT 126 course. The classes were consistently engaging and insightful that I really learned a lot from it!

Prof. Abuzaid is a nice instructor for PSTAT 126. While the course itself is challenging with its mathematical derivations, he always provides clear explanations that make the material more manageable. I found it especially helpful that he included R code in the notes, which was invaluable for completing the final project.

Prof. Abuzaid is incredibly approachable and helpful! Although I've never been one to attend office hours regularly, I visited his office twice, and both times he was very kind and took the time to thoroughly explain everything. I would definitely take his class again.

Professor Abuzaid is one of the most patient and caring professors I've had. He was always very helpful during office hours and responded to my emails promptly. He also provided valuable guidance to our final project team, helping us clean up the data efficiently.

Had both 100 and 126. Bro never updated grades. When asked for practice midterm, his response "No, that won't be necessary" had me gagged. TAs were confused and overworked. He REFUSED to post lecture materials ahead for us to follow, so his lectures were impossible. Didn't align with textbook material, so you can't even prep ahead. Bad teacher.

Terrible professor. Didn't know my grade the whole quarter so I had no idea how I was doing. Didn't respond to my emails. I feel like I would enjoy this course if it were taught by an actual good prof.

His exams are challenging, and his teaching style is different from what I'm used to. However, he strikes a good balance between theory and application, with a fair emphasis on coding. He is always positive and willing to accommodate any student requests for missed assessments. However, attending classes is important to stay on top of the material.

For PSTAT 126: Ali seems approachable and open-minded, but that did not extend to his teaching. Concepts were rushed over during lecture and sections did not fare better. The theoretical exams were particularly challenging, although section quizzes and an end-of-quarter group project balanced things out. Though it can be hard to get a hold of him.

Very disorganized and rude professor. He skips through code, does not explain concepts properly and waits too long to post lecture slides. Quizzes are poorly structured and only given 30 mins. He rudely declines to answer questions if he "said it in lecture". Horrible experience for one of the best PSTAT electives at UCSB

It was a great experience, and I learned a lot in this course. Professor Abuzaid is dedicated to his students and fosters a supportive, enriching learning environment. I especially enjoyed the final project presentation, as it gave me the chance to learn more about my teammates' skills. Overall, it was a rewarding experience.
