Super nice professor and really personable. His tests are heavily weighted and can be tricky. He uses a Platform called Tophat that costs money.

He's a funny dude and enthusiastic about the material. I'm kind of biased because I don't personally like the subject. Pretty easy class though, but you have to attend lectures to answer the TopHat questions for credit. TopHat and the grading criteria were kind of confusing.

Super enthusiastic professor and a great lecturer. He explained complicated topics really well and helped me truly understand the course. The bad reviews on here are mainly because of people salty about their grade— this course and the material in it are simply hard.

Professor Lang is a very energetic and enthusiastic individual and teaches the material fairly well. Very exam heavy (30% and 40% midterm and final) but if you study and prepare enough an A is achievable. Weekly section activities with AI integration as well as weekly practice quizzes that are straightforward. Overall not a bad class at all.

Really great dude! Loved talking to him outside of class and on the class Discord. Overall though I felt as if the lectures were more complicated than they needed to be. Same goes for the midterm and final (30 and 40 percent respectively.) Practice midterm was nothing like the actual version. Overall a good class but the grading is tough.

Ok he's a nice guy but he's not trying to help. He intended to overcomplicate the exam questions by replacing vocabs with the hardest ones, so if you're not a native speaker you probably cooked. No practice questions. Spent so much time on this course, got an average of nearly 90 on my exams and full score on other parts but still didn't get an A.

Not sure about other comments, but he is one of my favorite professors here so far. Lectures are super engaging and interesting. Very Test heavy(30%midterm,40%final). Final was very similar to last quarter so not too difficult. Definitely need a great understanding of concepts to get an A, but B is super achievable.

Least fav class at ucsb so far. Lectures are all over the place and so is his textbook which he wrote and makes you pay for. Section is always rushed. The grading system is confusing. Practice midterm was extremely easy, completely different from the midterm. He overcomplicates wording on exams. For context; I took ap macro, was straight A, had 4.0

Genuinely cares about his students. Super down to earth and easy to talk to, despite this being a huge class he answers emails personally and quickly. There's a ton of course resources, there's a class discord where he's really active and answers questions. Beware of the final, do not let early lectures fool you, this is not an easy class...

So the class basically has 30 free points. Midterm is 30pts and final is 40pts. Not a hard class by any-means. You can really tell he tries to make his lectures enjoyable. They were fun and interactive and doesn't put you too sleep. Textbook is actually helpful since he wrote it. Go to all the weekly review sessions and you'll be fine

He is knowledgable and enthusiastic. Rambles too much and does a very bad job at teaching the concepts directly. Test questions use unnecessary advanced vocabulary and he never teaches how to apply macro-econ concepts to scenarios/questions in ways that you need to on tests. Basically: bad at teaching

He seemed chill enough with an easy midterm but his final is ridiculously hard. Midterm and practice questions are incredibly misleading for the final which was nothing like them. Issue isn't that final is hard, but he does not prepare you for it at all with the practice questions. Supposedly easy class tanked my GPA.

Great professor! He is genuinely excited to teach and his lectures are engaging. Also cares and takes in student feedback. The workload was minimal. Final was harder, but the questions were not tricky, they just required more application of basic concepts.

Goated professor. Econ 2 final was significantly more difficult than the midterm, but he graded very easily on everything else. Great professor who actually cares about the students.

Really enjoyed this course. Matthew is a great lecturer and homework was pretty minimal. Midterm was really easy but the final was pretty hard I got 38/50 even though I got 29/30 on the midterm. Most of the work is really easy, so the final being difficult was a little shocking but overall really enjoyed this course and the sections are easy too.

He is a good professor and does well in lectures. He's very nice and sweet, especially if you go to office hours and walking hours. He did have a hard final this quarter but I think it's because he is still adjusting to UCSB and the department forces him to put a curve on the whole class so that no more than a percentage of people pass. Great guy.

Expects you to put time into the class, but everything is very doable. Uses Tophat which is pretty simple to use and course work is fair. Last final was much harder than expected though, but he curved up afterwards, so wasn't that bad.

This class gave me the least amount of work during the quarter. There was only one short quiz assignment per week that you had to do. 60% of the grade is midterm/final. He buys you Starbucks if you go to walking hours. Midterm was easy, final was rather difficult. He did curve my final grade up about 3% to bring me back to an A though.

I don't recommend taking his class because the final was diabolically difficult. You're better off taking this course at community college, and getting an easy A.

Lang made this class so much more difficult than it should've been. I read and took notes on the entire textbook that Lang wrote, and doing assigned practice problems. However he made the final VERY DIFFICULT without providing any practice problems of similar difficulty. This class is going to tank my GPA, just take it at CC don't take Lang.

I loved his lectures, very nice and makes the content understandable. Attendance isn't mandatory but there is in class lecture questions. The Final however was extremely difficult for no reason and irrelevant to the information from lectures, practice tests, and final review. Walked in thinking I knew it all, walked out questioning my life choices.
