Her lectures are clear and organized and she is very helpful when answering questions. She posts a lot of practice tests that are just like her actual exams, so make sure you understand the problems on them. I highly recommend her for Chem 1A!

She wrote all notes and examples on the board, but in my opinion did not spend enough time explaining and getting majority of class to understand. Tests and quizzes had surprise questions even though she posts lots of practices tests. I learned most things online through Aleks. If you have Chem. series to tale I reccomend Price or Joseph if you can

Sylvester is such a sweet and enthusiastic woman. She wants her students to do well, so the practice quizzes and tests are extremely helpful, and she gives opportunities to replace a quiz score with iClicker points or a midterm with the final. Lectures on the chalkboard, so be ready to go to class and pay attention, but it's just review of AP Chem

Disorganized, doesn't post lecture slides online. If you're a person who craves organization and structure, Sylvester is not for you. You're better off with Price.

If you have taken AP Chemistry, Chem 1A is cake. Sylvester/Kunkel also had really easy tests. Take advantage of practice tests if you struggle. A few questions are reused and are representative of the actual tests

Nice professor, lectures are easy and clear. She's friendly to beginners in chemistry. Course is not very much in depth and if you go to lectures and do the homework then you're fine. Could've gotten an A+ if I had not screwed up on the final... Anyway, she is a nice choice for CHEM 1A.

Very nice professor. Her class is relatively easy and well organized and explained. Only test on what is taught in the lecture, which is great. Handwriting on blackboard sometimes could be hard to be seen clearly from the back of the hall, but once seen easy to understand. I got mad wiz chem in high school but really like her university chem class.

She is a really nice professor! The lectures are really clear. She provides several practice exams and some exam questions even directly from the practice. Theres two quizzes, two exams and one final. She will also curve the final grade. Its not very difficult to get an A in her class.

Easily the best CHEM1A professor. Although her lectures may not be as inspiring as that of Price, they are always clear thorough. Midterms and the final were a breeze as all questions are basically from the practice exams she provides. The homework is somewhat heavy but is definitely a grade booster. Also has quite a generous curve. Attend class.

She doesn't use lecture slides and abbreviates a lot when she writes on the chalkboard so you can get lost if you aren't constantly paying attention. If you go to her office hours she will help you. Make sure to do book problems and practice exams. Her tests sometimes have aleks type questions, so do aleks. She wasn't bad just not my style of teach

Great lecturer for Chem1C! Material covered in class is a solid intro, but practicing textbook problems and ALEKS are a must to do well. Uses the hardest/challenge problems from the textbook on tests. Practice tests and quizzes help a lot.

She is literally a great professor for chemistry. Clear and great at explaining concepts. Goes fast but manageable. I personally benefitted from ALEKS and doing all of the practice quizzes/exams. Just study and be on top of your stuff and you will get a B. Just don't do bare minimum and expect to pass. Glad I had her for 1A and 1B.

She is a very good professor. Her tests are very hard, but if you study for them and do all the practice tests and textbook problems you will be fine.

She is okey. Tests are hard and lectures are not related to the tests at all. DO BOOK PROBLEMS and MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL OF THEM! She sometimes throws random book problems onto the tests and if you don't know how to do them you are screwed.

Definitely has tough tests, so do not rely on just the lectures. Takes effort outside of class because she goes over the easy stuff in class. Although she has hard tests the class is very forgiving because you can replace a quiz with iclicker and the final replaces a midterm grade. Very good option if you prefer chalkboard.

I took Chem in high school and did fine with it until I took Chem 1A with Kunkel. She provides a bunch of resources to try and help you learn but the course is structured in an incredibly confusing way. Lectures are not online and she uses iClickers; she also assigns ALEKS (online textbook) homework very often and it takes a looooot of time to do.

Beware, she doesn't post slides!! You have to go to lecture for iClicker, and she never explains any equations either. She's nice, but not the best teacher. It's clear that she likes Chem, but for people who suck at Chem like me, you won't understand. I learned more from Aleks than I did her... Also she makes her test insanely hard.

Kunkel doesnt use power point, meaning all her notes are on the board. This way of teaching helps you see her thought process and shows you how to solve problems. All I did was do the practice exams which are the same difficulty as the actual exams. I only took general chemistry in High School yet she made this course easy (great teacher).

Kunkel seems to be a fair professor. She provides multiple practice quizzes and tests in order to allow students to practice. Her lectures are clear, and she always makes sure everyone's questions are answered before moving on to the next topic. Chem is a hard class, but Kunkel seems to be a good choice for the class.

Best professor for CHEM!!

Kunkel has a reputation of being very intimidating for students, and maybe that's the case for the rest of the chem series, but if you study hard and put in the effort that she expects of the class, you shouldn't have a problem with achieving the grade that you want. And if you end up messing up a few things, don't worry because the curve is FAT.

Her quizzes and test questions arent on practice tests beware.
