You will need to actively participate in his classes to be on his good side. You will need to attend the sections to be fully caught up on course material. You will need to be ready to defend your opinions in class. If you do not like this, then do not take his courses. If you like challenges, then take his courses.

Do not take any classes with Parker. He doesn't stick to a syllabus and it will ruin your grade.

RUDE is a very disrespectful professor. Wants to see his students fail. Don't bother wasting your money on taking this class, he comes late or cancels the class. His slides are a bunch of random things, and the overall lecture is him venting about his life and his boring opinions. Changed the format of the final last minute because he wanted to.

This class has been a profound disappointment. He has a consistent lack of professionalism and respect towards students. The professor's habitual tardiness and apparent pride in lowering students' grades not only make this class hard but makes me want to drop. He also makes Passive-aggressive remarks towards students.

This professor is the worst at UCSB. Changed the format of the final last minute just to make it harder on students. Rude, opinionated, and unprofessional, participation is his class matters A LOT but doesn't make you feel comfortable to participate in his lectures...Doesn't post slides, doesn't have an email, and doesn't respond to It. always late

Parker is the worst professor ive had in my 4 years at UCSB. He changed the entire syllabus and grading system in week 9 intentionally lowering everyones grade.

Very knowledgeable and passionate about the material but is not cut out to be a professor. He is very condescending, rude, inaccessible to students, usually late to class, and expects things from students that were never made clear setting up the majority of the class to do poorly. Would avoid taking another class with him.

Changed the syllabus last minute cause he "felt like it"... also tends to get aggravated in class over certain topics. There should be a level of professionalism when it comes to teaching, he demands punctuality from students but often arrives late. Also finishes super early. And horrible lecture slides that are 6-8 years old.

One of the most unorganized and unintuitive classes I have ever taken. Had to read nearly a book a week with the professor often changing the text needed to read within 2 days of class. No written syllabus or clear grading outline. Changed format of the final at the last minute. Very passionate about the subject but cared little about his students.

Parker's class was disorganized; he was usually late, disrespectful to students, and the material was outdated; most of it was information I learned in high school. This class had about 150 pages of reading per week, which was hard to keep up with. Section was the only thing that got me through this course.

Professor Parker is intelligent and extremely knowledgeable, but his teaching style is lazy, unprofessional, and rude. He confesses himself that he hasn't updated his slides in years. While the subjects of his classes are potentially uncomfortable in nature, he unnecessarily targets students in a derogatory manner. Wouldn't recommend:(
