This professor loves highlighting her own accomplishments. She also lets her own personal beliefs about Christianity influence what she teaches and how she teaches it.
I love Thomas. She is pleasant and a great teacher. I recommend going to the lectures because everyone on the midterm and final is based off her lectures. I never read the books and passed with an A. I recommend this class.
Prof. Thomas is a very nice lady. Loves what she teaches, but does not teach it well. Powerpoints are scattered and hard to follow. I stopped going to the class after the second week. Class is relatively easy. Majority of the grade is two in class essays. Study the essay prompts and you will get an A or B, but I DO NOT RECOMMEND this class!
Super funny in a nerdy way, tells you exactly what's going to be on the test but you still have to do some work to critically analyze the readings - really tries to make things interesting! Also looks like the mom in Freaky Friday post-makeover
She is an excellent teacher! i had her for teachings of jesus and as long as you don't sit in the back (she's not too good at using the mic) you will enjoy her lectures just as much as i did. she is very passionate and intelligent, crystal clear when explaining things, posts lecture notes online, tests and grades fairly, and is very understanding
STAY AWAY!! She is so boring!! The material is not boring, it's pretty interesting actually. I got more out of section than lecture. Oh my gosh it is so hard to stay awake in her class. It was an unenjoyable experience to be in this class.
This woman is secretively ferocious. And because she teaches a class on Jesus, I'd expect more understanding from her when trying to talk about my grade; quite the contrary, she is the Devil. Stay away if you care about your GPA. EXTREMELY picky grader for such a minor and unapproachable.

Lots of reading. Lectures are clear. Friendly and helpful. You have to think about stuff that's not direct in the reading and comapre ideas. Textbook (the yellow one) was hard. Good class.
She is very sweet and loves her area of study. Her lectures are organized well and she makes an effort to get to know people and answer questions. Her breadth of knowledge is amazing.
Horrible grader!! Left no comments on my take-home final (which I spent innumerable hours working on it), and pinpoints your flaws only. Don't let that smiley face of hers fool you, she is a nice person, but when she takes papers home to grade, she unleashes deadly power! Picky grader, for such a minor subject (religious studies). Not happy.
The person under this comment is an idiot. she's a great professor one of the best here.
Nice woman, so-so lecturer. Nothing special, really.
Very smart. Funny. Takes an interest in her students.
This class only had a midterm and take home final. I found it easy and informative. She really tries to be helpful and understanding.
I am very impressed by her passion to not only teach but to actually desire for students to learn the material. This was an excellent class, so is not bias towards Christianity or against it. Which is fair. She likes to know her students!
She is so fair and has good lectures. She is a great teacher!

Good teacher - passionate about her material and very open to students. Quite funny, as well. Any class with her, if given a proper chance, will give much knowledge to any student.
She is very nice and her lectures are interesting, especially if you are into religious studies. She tried to learn everyone's name in the big lecture hall! Grades fairly, the exams were take home and not too difficult.
Has plenty of opportunites to keep up in class (ie, online notes) and a very funny person. More than willing to help as much as she can in office hours.
I'd have to say she's one of the best professors here at UCSB. She is extremely helpful and will answer any questions. Very qualified and learned in what she does. Amazing scholar who runs a fair, & VERY interesting class.Take anything you can with her.
Okay class. Fair tests and good lectures. Used powerpoint and posted her lecture notes on the web. A little boring if you aren't into Religious Studies, but she made it bareable.
I had Professor Thomas for the Teachings of Jesus class. It was very interesting and fun, there were no papers: just a midterma and a take home final. She was very informative and interested in our opinions and always took the time to answer our Qs
