If you have the chance to take Prof. Gray, do yourself a favor and take her classes. She is a true gem in this day and age where some professors might not accommodate for the various personal situations that students are experiencing. Gray is extremely caring, kind, and understanding towards her students. You will not regret taking courses with her
Love love love Professor Gray! Such a sweet, passionate, inspiring and intelligent soul. I wish more Professors were like her. Extremely understanding and compassionate.
Summery Gray is the best professor ever and I highly enjoyed this class. You have one 3hr lecture where you watch movies, then a 50min lecture for discussion/write-up. 2 film reflections and you're given 3 choices for the final. Super easy A.
I loved professor gray and her es 155 course. TAKE HER CLASSES! Im literally fangirling because she honestly is so knowledgable and such a great teacher I genuinely learned so much in her class. She knows her stuff and was able to make the class challenging and so interesting. overall my favorite professor at ucsb.
Professor Gray truly cares about her students and puts in time to make the class worthwhile. Im super excited to take another class with her this fall because env s 155 was really cool and a lot of the ES classes can sometimes be really generalized and just review for a lot of it but her makes hers really interesting and more specialized.
Professor Gray truly cares about her students and this class. She is very accommodating, and is clearly passionate about teaching. She shows a lot of videos in class, pulling from a wide variety of disciplines. A lot of assignments, but none of them are too difficult. Take this class!
Summer Gray is so knowledgeable and inspiring! You can tell this course has been amazingly well thought out and she comes to every lecture extremely prepared. She teaches this course through a social justice lens and its so refreshing to have an entire ES course taught this way (for more than just 1 lecture) by someone so well-versed.
AMAZZING!! I had her my first quarter at ucsb and she was so thoughtful and kind. I learned so much in her class and will always remember her being one of the best profs at this school. So approachable and even when the material was hard she found a way to make it easier for us!
Professor Gray is one of the most kind and caring professors I've had at UCSB. I highly recommend taking any class she teaches. She is extremely accommodating and always looking to help. 10/10 amazing professor!
She's so sweet and actually cares about her students. The class is a lot of little assignments (at least in an online setting), and sometimes I felt like it was a bit much, but the assignments were usually really easy and quick. And she's pretty lenient with deadlines and stuff if you talk to her. The course material was so inspirational.
She's the sweetest! During the pandemic, she was always so accommodating, encouraging, and sympathetic. Her assignments were fun, inspirational, and thought-provoking. The books we had to read were manageable and interesting. Weekly reading responses + portfolio prompts made ups he majority of the class.
My favorite professor to date. She posted all the readings on GS with an exception to a book UCSB gave out to students for free. We had two 250 word exercises to do throughout the quarter, one midterm which was 1250 words and the final was optional due to the coronavirus outbreak. Also, in each class, we had to do group/paired activities.
AMAZING professor, puts you to think about various issues. Very involved and WANTS you to pass her course, just engage in the reading and you'll be okay. weekly 2 page papers, one 4 page comparative essay, and one group final presentation. She's that one Prof. you'll remember through your undergrad.
Summer is awesome. She is very intelligent and inspirational and she truly opens your mind to think about things you've never put much thought into before. Her lectures are amazing and definitely keep you engaged for the full class period. 4 two page papers and 1 four page paper as well as a presentation. I would recommend her to everyone.
This professor is hands-down the sweetest professor ever. Lectures were not that useful sometimes, and she shows a lot of films, but the assignments were pretty straight-forward. There were five 2-page assignments (double-spaced) and one 4-page comparative essay (double spaced), and a very fun group project in the end.
She's great. Lectures are not your standard type where you're falling asleep listening to a monotone voice. She incorporates plenty of media to try and get her points across, which really helps. Super friendly and sweet. Get ready to read though.
Good lectures and easy on the eyes too.
Great teacher.
She is awesome.
